Oh Lord (CB500) - The Leaky Bitch (p. 31)

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

Good to know guys! Thanks! I will investigate how to get the stuff out then.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

I was a little rough with mine (sawzall!!!) but if you're careful, you can cut them out. Just make two cuts a little bit apart, pop the piece out and the bushing will come out much easier. If you nick the swing arm a little, it's not a big deal...just don't cut into it! These cb550 bushings are absolute bears to get out. I tried soaking them in PB Blaster, using a torch, a drift...nada.

Or do what Joe did.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

Ok, I guess I will try PB Blaster and some kind of bearing puller. I really have no clue here. Would a machine shop have the capability of pressing the crap out easy? Once its all cleaned up, does it all slide together nice like?

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

I would highly recommend the swap to bronze bushings...and once clean, yeah everything goes together easily. The bronze bushings also eliminate the need to use the little felt washers and one other washer I believe...not sure. You'll see when you go to install them.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

Where do I find these bronze bushings? In my internet travels, I haven't seen them. Hell, I didn't know they existed until this part of the thread. Thanks!

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

What'd ya do, give up? I'll buy the whole thing from you for $50, excluding that boat trailer light body.

Last I heard he got wrapped up in some chick. It is sad.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

Ha! I'll be back on here soon. I just got engaged at the beginning of this month, and that hit the finances pretty hard. I am about to go on vacation with the fiancee, and then mid September, she is closing on a big house for us. That means I get my own garage to work on the bike, and it will move there. I am starting to get excited about the build again!

That didn't take long.

When its right, its right! By the way, she is behind the bike project. She is a damn good woman!

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 5/15/11 new question about Swingarm

So the bike project is about to ramp up again. Today, with the help of a really good buddy, I moved my cafe project and his workbench from his house to my new house. My boss and other really good friend loaned me his motorcycle lift long term. I just got done putting everything away.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 10/22/2011 coating inside of fiberglass gas tank???

Hey, what do you guys recommend I get to coat the inside of my Benjie's fiberglass gas tank? I had a link for something saved on my computer, but now the link is dead!!!

Hey Ringo! I'm back, I didn't know anybody had replied to my thread. We will have to get together! I hope you like PBR. :D

Stroker Crazy, thanks, thats what I ended up going with.

So guys, I ask a lot of questions, and I contribute here very little to nothing. I'm sorry! But I have yet ANOTHER question!!!

Will these shocks work for my 72' CB500 and are they a reasonable deal? They are for sale locally for $60, and have only been used for mocking up a bike (or thats all thats claimed).

The guy says they are 13.6", for 650 and smaller bikes. I am thinking abot getting them...

EDIT TO ADD: Awww damn. If I just pay attention to what I'm looking at and think a little for myself, I can answer my own questions. It appars they wont work for my bike as they don't have a cleavis fitting on one end of them...

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 11/29/11 question about rear shocks!

Those ends unscrew and you fit clevis ends.
I made completely new shock bottoms for mine though, it's in 360 link below

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 02/09/12 SCHOOL ME ON DYNA IGNITIONS PLEASE!!!

Ok, so I am now shopping for ignition parts, and I was wondering what all I need and if the Dyna ignition stuff is worth the coin. If it is worth the money, what coils do I get and WHY; 3 or 5 ohm?

Thanks guys for any pointers here!
