Thanks ;D
Yea was thinking about putting something over it like acrylc red . But talking to brad it hit us it needs to be dark for it to trigger. So i was just seeing of i liked the red on the polished stuff but a new solid one will be there. Thanks for looking out !
I hear ya- before I fitted the Newtronic I was gonna do something like that myself... I was thinking mesh, like all the other stuff I made. Oh well.... Lol.
Those look OK, I am a bit bummed you are losing the exhaust, it was one of the parts I liked the look of. 2-1 will probably look sexy to though so don't mind me.
Im not ruling out the exhaust just yet Just trying to think ahead mike as when i was thinking of where to mount the rearset the exhaust i had on wouldnt fit . Didnt have time last night to mess with the putting the exhaust back on and see whats what ! Im going to see if i can run the one i have as of now and hope only have to make small adjustments will see
Damn the bike is looking real good. Can't wait to see it in action. What kind of paint did you use after cleaning up the welds? Just a rattle can or what?
I know this sounds funny but yes it was rattle can and was black caliper paint to boot lol ! I did a sample on a scrape chunk of metal to see then went for it !
Thanks guys !
So last night i spent some time on the exhaust and sub fender . A buddy thats been helping on the bike had a 900ss ducati sub fender he didnt need and we tried to see if it would work . Well after some messing around with it came down to being just to wide . Not done with it yet but might have to look else where !
The exhaust deal has gone back and forth about what i had set up and a 2 into 1 set up . Well after Mike made me feel like i had cut off Mona Lisas nose ( JK Mike ) LOL ! I throw the exhaust back on and not as bad as i thought but will have to make small blocks to drop it down about 1/2 inch to clear the rearsets ! Now i also slide the pipes forward to see what it would do to the look of the bike !
What do you guys think : Keep exhaust the way it was just add some spacer to drop it passed the rearset or run the pipes the way they are in the pics and run they along the bottom ?
They look good in the pick but what about adding pipe, bending to go under the frame and give clearance to the rear sets then coming back out with a kick up after the rear set?
this has got to be one of my favorite builds. nice freakin work.
CRazy idea= what about a buell style exhaust mounted under the bike... or a 2 into 2 with super shorties that split the rear wheel, but are still tucked under the bike?
Again Thank you guys for the comments
Mike I like the idea and did look at something close to that . Did some looking and that would give it a nice Ducati look . Also talked to a few of you about it and got some great info . And im thinking i going to build my own pipes for really no other reason then to see if i can . Good thing Axe is even tho it went from 80 to 40 over night is ok . The winter will give me more time to botton everything up , waited this long no sense rushing now lol Figure i have a set of XS650 pipes and the header pipes for the 500 are cheap . Need to take a look and make sure there the same i.d and o.d to match up. I could end up with anything thats for sure guess ;D And Brad a turbo im just trying to get it moving ;D
Picked up the rear spacer tonight and it came out great . Got it fitted up on the wheel nicely but the bolts i picked up from a fastener shop is A: its standered Bitch. Which in part is my fault for not looking closer but i know what i asked for After i got it on the bike tested fitted the caliper and ran into a small problem the inside back of the mount is the bottom back side of the caliper touches just ever so lightly . But better bigger to cut down then to small and have to remake ;D
