I just wanted to remind myself where this bike started from. From clicking on page one to page fourteen I am dumbfounded in the transformation so far. You should be extremely proud of yourself. I think this will end up being one of the best builds on dtt. Well done mate.
Wow man thanks for the pressure lol ! And thanks guys . Well as you can guess was out in the shop all night again . Started with placing the new head bearings place the race in the frig over night . Lil bit of love and they seated right in . Then got the forks on and just place the front wheel on its axel still need to work on spacer . Made sure i put the clip-on clamps on befor the top tree went on . So moved onto the rear wheel now i know there's no disk on the back but it will be drilled to mach the front FZR disk . I wounder if i could run a rear FZR disk ? Maybe next winter on that one so got everything mounted and its on its own legs. I did this so i could place the motor in and give me lil more stable platform to slid the motor in . Taped a few thing up and with a helping hand from a friend slide the motor right in and no dings . Took some messing with but got all the bolts in . Now tho i see i need to replace the the washers and nuts . So just thought the carb where just sitting there begging to go on the motor and next thing you know there mounted . Then thought why not the pods also so there on ! Here's a few picks of the work tonight !
Cool thanks justin , not sure if it will work . Would think i would need a diff caliper hanger and a spacer made up . Would look cool tho and im going to look into it and see what it would take .
I agree on that , have the sheet metal sitting there waiting to be cut and mounted. But now that i see a clear one might have to rethink it . Thanks for the pic !
Can't think of the members name but he did some eching on copper plates for the side of the bike and they looked great. Dont know justin if copper would work on the XS everything is red, black, chrome. I'm trying to decide if i want to keep or paint the inside of the front disk as its gold right now .
Been thinking about the rear disk , do you know if the rear fzr disk mounting holes are the same as the front ? If so i could go about the back like the front and make a new spacer with a small hanger . Would finish off the back to match the front .
And no, I don't think copper would look right on your scoot, ha. You could always do up a splash guard in Carbon Fiber. That would match up pretty well, eh?

So over the long weekend i spent alot of time out in the shop . I tell you what i was pulling my hair out trying to find or replace washers, nuts, bolts that would fit and work right . Have to say gettting good at just looking at a bolt or nut and haveing a good idea on size and thread pitch lol. But can say ive got most of the work done just need a few more things still . Seems to never end lol i just can go half ass on it now . Thanks to that i've decided to go ahead and run a FZR rear disk out back to match the front . So will need to make a nother spacer for it which might take a lil more time to get it right . Did get some of the wiring done and most of the stuff mounted under the seat . All fit nicely like it should and fit under the seat well. I also replaced the 3 grease fitting from the old style to a new style .
Thanks ! Well small update on the build its down to the wire or you could say down to the brakes ! Everything is ready to go but the brakes and tuning the bike . But there has been a lil set back but think we have it worked out . Once we put the front disk where it needs to be it will not clear the inside of the forks . And if we move it in the FZR caliper just hits the mag spoke . So we put the front disk where it needed to be with room to move and started making a few calls to see if we can find a caliper thats thiner then the FZR . What we came up with is a Honda CBR caliper is a bit thiner then the FZR one and with it will have no problem with mounting the front up just need to cut the spacer and hanger . Now moving on to the back from what we figured out should be alot smoother and only need to make a spacer and mount it up and have a set of lines made . Would like to thank Justinlonghorn and BradJ for the help on the brake parts Thanks Guys ! Will post pics of the spacers and everything when they come in........
I'd love to see some pictures of those issues... I didn't have the same issues,.because I started with spoked wheels and a CBR caliper, so the comparison would be interesting.
