Pamco Electronic Ignition - CB360

Is there enough interest in getting Pamco Pete to fabricate one for the CB360?

  • Yes! Count me in! I'd love to have a Pamco EI unit.

Reduces the chance of kick back.

You ever have the kick starter attack you ?

It doesn't happen often, but retarded timing reduces the possibility. It would also start quicker, even though they start easy, as the cylinder would fire later, speeding up the rotation.

The cutaways on 350 plate are for lock nut/washer on eccentric valve adjusters
360 has conventional screw and lock nut so doesn't need them
Electronic advance is an interesting feature, especially at the price
Is static timing less than 10 deg BTDC?
Max advance angle around 38deg @4,000rpm?
Multi stage ?

It looks like he tweaked the curve slightly for better kickstarting and smoother advance:

Interesting graphs, I don't get on Honda Twins often enough
Isn't stock 7~10 degrees BTDC though

I think Viet system is a viable alternative for those wanting/needing a basic electronic ignition. However, it still uses the stock, mechanical advancer. What PAMCO has done is given us an electronic advancer. No more weak advancer springs, stuck weights. The electronic advancer is exactly what I want. What Pete has done is retarded the timing below 100 RPM so kick starting is easier too. You can't do that easily or at all with the mechanical advancer.

If you stay with the stock mechanical advancer, Viet's system looks to be the price/value leader.

For electronic Advance, PAMCO is now the price/value leader.

Charlie's Place ignition still uses the mechanical advance and cost's more then PAMCO.

Boretech is about 2X the price of PAMCO but offers user programability as well as electronic advance.. .

At this point in Time, I think PAMCO has the absolute best mix of features and a great price point.

However, it is a free market and you can choose what you like.

Wow, I gave up on Pamco a while back. Now I see he's made tremendous strides. Looks like he's taken things to the next level. I'm glad to see that Pete pushed ahead to meet the needs of the CB360 group.

I don't know, I went through the service manual and couldn't find any details about it other than what full advance should be. I do like how I can time each cylinder with the new Pamco setup, but I imagine I could have done that with points as well ;D
