So what are you gonna do to the bike next?

You being sarcastic trying to see if I'll type more? :)

Adjusting the carbs and getting it running is the end of "phase 1"

Phase two will be hagons in the rear,
New swinger shock bushings from joker machine, more sturdy headlight ears,

I can't decide how much more money I want to sink in this thing. I'm leaning toward picking up a solid runner cb750 so the woman and I can go riding together.

Nice. I'm in the hole for 3k. And free labor. So I understand

A third of my sink for this thing is jacked up labor. I have lived and I have learned. Unless it's a performance engine shop, I won't let anyone touch my bike again. Except for you guys of course

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

The BIGGEST mistake I've made is starting a project without a bike to ride. I don't have another .

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Ok, carb syncing results:

I slid the sticks in there (after measuring :) ) vertically so the slide was propped up about a centimeter (or the width of the stick). I slid the stick PAST the needle until it was propped on the leading edge of the slide, not the cutaway.

I adjusted the screws on top of the cap until both wanted to fall at the same time. As it sat, the right carb wanted to come up a little ahead of the left. After I get it going I'll have to go back and put some loctite on that nipple. It wants to get out of adjustment pretty easily.

I also backed the throttle stop screw allll the way out until it had no effect on the slide, then eased it in until it just started to raise. Then I backed it back off 1/8 turn from there.

Also have my air screw 1.5 out from seated.

I'll post a video. Can't get it to idle. Died on me up the road until I realized I had the choke on :) it pulls through all the gears ok, just need to adjust the idle screws I think.

Yeah turn one time both carbs. See if you can get it to idle.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

Got it to idle. It feels strong blipping it while riding and in gear at a bit higher revs. It's idling around 2000. It's a little sporadic coming off the line at lower RPMs

2 years coming to fruition!! So pumped.

Trying to get you video uploaded

Here she is with the throttle stop screw pretty much turned all the way out.

And idling after turning the screw in a bit on each side. Brought it down to 2000. I'm going to have to do the "by the book" of setting the idle tomorrow.

Re: "Patina" The 1973 CB175 Cafe Racer

She was an IFBB fitness competitor. It's not hard to find pictures of her ;) if only I told you guys her name... Ha!

I'm a lucky man.

also re-torque the head after the first few heat cycles(after is is totally cool)

Will do. Also noticed I have a couple dime sized drips of oil leaking out of one bolt on the left side case. Happens every time I shut the bike off.

Tried to re torque that one but seemed tight already. Maybe a slightly torn gasket there.
