When I adapted the GPZ wheels for the CB7fitty, I went with the smaller axle to match the rims and had sleeves machined to adapt to the KZ750 forks. So my bearings are stock to the rims.

Now that is thinking, I could make sleeves super easy and the axles are a dime a dozen on feeBay... from a 22 down to a 17mm seems strange, but the R6 did it on the rear too and the stock CB750 is only maybe 15mm... Nahhh I'm set with correct parts and new stripes... I'm already out $140 for the brandy new wheel and the new 3D chain I need is $225 so my budget is blown out bad.

also found what I think is an antique bone saw with fancy pistol grip

The Eagle cans are pretty Common the Embossing is kind of plain what you want is one that looks like a BUHL oil can with some fancy embossing those are hard to find

Couple goodies I picked up over the weekend.

17" Fox Air Shocks for my HL500 ;D ;D

Do you have any more info on these shocks? Years they were made/used? And on what bikes? Or other sizes? These would be perfect for one of bikes if the right length.

I think those came out in 1980-81 when Maico actually used a set of fork legs shortened for shocks on a works ride and it rode the bumps so good having no corner speed didn't matter any longer.

[EDIT] My mistake... the Fox Shock was even earlier, here's a write up:

the harley mxer used a set of modded forks in the rear for a very short while, circa 1975
the cz falta had pure rear airshocks as did some swm's i think
i have a set of 17.5's fox's on my maico wheelsmith AW400 8)

Good stuff mang!! Give those to XB for a rebuild if the stanchion tubes are good and they would fetch a few days lunch money for sure

Drug this home today, throttle body fire so salvage but the report shows no damage and the fire is minimal... Title process will be the hardest part.

yeah thats it lucas send me yer shocks i can reseal them when i do mine i think one of my shafts might be slightly chain knurled.....hmmmm how are the shafts on those hehehehehehe...
besides the ones on my maico,i actually had a second pair that i picked off a moto-x-fox pat richter RM suzi racer that i found on a property that i was asked to help clean up by a realtor.it was funny this friend of a friend says so and so has control of this remote property up on the table mountain, near cherokee(right outside oroville). The story was that a bunch of bad criminal type 1% ers had been up there making trouble fer years untill the neighbors brother got in a lil kerpuffle and ended up shooting dead the head biker i think ...so the raeltor dude who drank with our friends out at the river, says, he says "we cant get anybody to EVEN GET STARTED cleaning up this property" "too much bad joo joo with the gun killing and all that mess" and it is full of all kinds of tools, equipment and old motorcycles.
Dude says i will give you the gate key and written note and you can haul off whatever you can or want to ..the more the better.i did not have to be talked into it anymore than that.
Next day me and a buddy and an old flat trailer in tow we went up to this remote property .needless to say we were a lil jumpy and packing iron as well ...just in case the satins devils or whoever they were was still lurkin about..the property was indeed remote ,couldn't even see any buildings from the road, just a drive and a gate up the hillside ... here is a few pics but there was shit spead out over 2 landings cut into the hillside condstruction/plumbing supplies power tools and motorsickles ever whare .it was almost hard to focus on one part of the property untill i finally seen this rm250 literally perfectly upside down , i went over and spun the wheels. i had spotted right off the fox airs and thor swinger and sun rims laced in,with heavy spokes so i knew it wasnt a joke..at first rattle i thought, dang its got maico forks !! then i was thinking no there 'zokes...wasnt long tho that it figgerd out that they were simons forks the triple clamps are the dead giveaway and on the property somewhere was the gold DG head as well.laying in a pile of rusty burnt junk not even a bent fin :D from memory and the pics the other bikes were a cr450r elsinore a cupl 3 xr75's , 2 cb/sl 350's a maxim x 5 VALVE yamer ,an rm125 and a KZ1000 mk11...there were others but hurts my head trying to remember...we hauled off 3 full loads over 2 days from that place.
That was 6 years ago..i think...give or take a different planet..anyway the thor swinger i sold right away in auction to australia for $778 the DG head went for top doller, the simons forks were very rough and the fox airs were good for parts/restore.i was holding them for parts for the ones bad shaft on my wheelsmith maico ..but years later i decided to sell the fox airs and they went in auction fer $700+ i think but the ringer was the stamped P R at the top of the shock body with the date like 9 77 or something, well that P R according to pete fox ,witnessed/signified they were valved to go on a pat richter bike ! a fox works bike replica that you could order back in the day from fox .. Anyway pete (geoff fox's son and ceo of foxhead which used to be fox racing and long ago split from the brother bobs shock building business which became what is now fox factory)anyway pete fox got ahold of me after the auction and says "man i fucked up and missed the auction.but i REALLY would like those fox shocks for a museum quality pat richter rm fox racer we are putting together to suprise my dad and uncle.....i really need them, specially because they are still here and he says ,cause they are only the reel deel once" here is a guy with millions of rersource and could just make another identical set.but the rael one is just that
you see my pitchurs in the ebay auction for the fox airs showed clearly the P R and date of assembly stamped in the upper body which i had no idea at the time its signifigance.and pete fox said that it was a set of pat richter shocks either from pats own bike or a repli racer that you could get back in the day if you were like a top in your district known name FAST winning sponsored expert mxer and had money in buckets ...anyway .i asked the buyer/winner of the P R foxairs if he would consider talking to pete fox, and they worked out a deal , so the shocks could go home for the museum bike
latr that same year i gave pete the simons forks for a hunderd bucks i think it was, plus the shipping i was prepared to gift em to the project but he wanted to pay something ....the simons triples i made look new and sold for good money as well, early on like the swinger head wheels and other bits
that one upside down motercycle wheels literally spinning in the brease was like $2000+ in parts sales
so lucas check your fox airs for what witness ID marks and date a friend of mine ended up with a pair marked P K which meant they were built for pierre karsmakers red rocket factory honda when pierre was racing for them

For sure it is, I would like to hit a spot like that, one or two is common but most of the good stuff is getting harder to find.

Ten bones for the Craftsmen at a yard sale last week. Dad was out draining hydrants (sounds dirty) and gave me a call about this. I woke up and made it to the eastside of Columbus just in time before the rain hit. My first tool chest, wooohoooo!

on last day there we got to talkin to the naybor what shot the biker.man that guy was lookin sideways at us,......first words spoken "were you friends of THOSE GUYS ? " he queeried ..i assured shooter , right quick that them fellers were total strangers and we'd bin hired by the reel-astate company to do a job.shooter was mostly pissed off about the 350 that is in the pics behind the SL350, apparently he knew what was mostly going on next door and claimed the engine was brand new all internal parts but informed me not to get excited cause the sparkplugs been left out all winter.sure enough when i broke it down it was indeed almost all fresh moving parts
but water is a helluva wicked thing i actually had to go on a mission and use the method of drilling out the pistons and set it on fire to get the jug off..just so i could save the sweet crankshaft assembly which i werent even sure was sweet till off came the smoking jug a half a can of briquet fire and 3 dull 3/8 drill bits later.a guy sure gets good at drilling by eye nicely spaced almost overlapping holes though

Thats a pretty crazy story, sounds like you got some awesome bikes.

I got my Fox Air shocks for free, from a buddy, who had them sitting in his storage container. They are currently out being full refurbished by a friend of a friend. He is the same guy who is going to do my Simons forks. He's going to make everything like new again. All these parts I have been picking up are going on my HL500.

I appreciate the offer to help with the rebuild though. And I'll have a look for stampings once I get them back.
