Best way to age the patches is to sew them on and wear the he'll out of the jacket...

I find crawling on my garage floor looking for yet another washer that went flying is a viable aging technique. I recommend loud continuous cursing for authenticity.

Old leather looks great but it doesn't always do well if it hits the road. I'd keep it for shows and get a modern bike jacket for the street. Same with old helmets. Great for showing, but no so good when you need it to protect your head from anything more serious than rain or sunshine.

Posted elsewhere on the forum but I'm so pleased with it I want everyone to know!

Skyteam Ace: Picked it up Saturday last, run-in for 160km so far.

Verdict: Build quality better than I expected but the most important discovery has been its handling. If ridden as an old style, underpowered bike should be it is one of the best balanced machines I've come across in years. Classic maximum radius cornering in order to maintain speed gives a great result. Rear suspension is a little harsh but at no time was either end of the bike unsettled by the sometimes bumpy surface. The cheap tyres it comes with look a bit dubious but performed well in the dry.

In short: I'm in love again!

Some minor modifications are on the way.

Very interesting Crazy... what is it a Chinese import or something? Never heard of it... glad you're havin' fun but! :D

Stroker, what's the seat height on that thing? And how much lower do you guesstimate it might go?

I'd love to pick up something like that for the wife, but she's very short legged.

The seat's fairly low Redbird. I suffer from duck's disease somewhat but my feet are very comfortably flat to the ground.

Will measure it so I can give you an exact number.

Crazy

Measured in the dark (it's night and the bike is parked in the street):

Height 765mm (30 inches), width (average) 190mm (7.5 inches).

As you can see, the seat is quite narrow which helps for those shorter in the leg department.

If daylight shows any major discrepancy I will re-post.

My daughter talked a guy down to $8 for this wagon on our yardsailing day:

Will be refinishing it to match HER sidecar this winter. Only surface rust.

And her handsome dad picked this up from an old lady for $30:

Its an old columbia she said she bought when she was a teen. Great shape, leather seat. Original United States Rubber Company tires.

Yesterday I bought myself a helmet. My motocross helmet would look odd on a Cafe. As winter's coming I opted not for a Bell 500

Pick up a Suzuki TU250X and customize it. I got one for my 5' 2" wife and she loves it. Low seat, and classic styling. Fuel injected, 90mpg, made in Japan... excellent stuff and the nicest looking 250 you can buy IMHO.
