It's a KTM 85 right side rad, the left has the cap and crossover tube to join them. I plan to (hopefully) heat and free the in/out tubes and replace with AN fittings then take it to the local rad shop for a fresh dip and re solder just to double up on assurance of no leaks.

If any of you have some experience with converting MX rads to oil coolers specific to CB750 even better... please, I beg of you to advise.

i think it is great to think up and build stuff, but you need an oil specific cooler ,
this is not suitable for an oil cooler, many reasons why
where in the system do you run tap-in a cooler on a sohc 750 ? ,i would think that just a larger tank or a tank with fins would do a bunch

Found a little gem:

Should be an interesting quick little project. :D

It's dead easy to fit cooler line on CB750
The 'best' way to do it is on tank return, you lose almost as much heat through the pipes running back and forth from front mounted cooler as the cooler itself.
You can also get 'sandwich block' to fit under oil filter. Many people do that as it's cooling feed side, but, pressure is way higher than on return line.
Water cooled bike radiator will probably split if fed oil at 50~70psi ,cooling system rarely sees more than about 25psi, check cap pressure relief

This is the answer I was seeking, thanks to everyone for the input. I have done many oil coolers off the filter with a screw on filter/cooler adapter starting back in the late 70's I want to use something different sort of a works thing, running line from return to the cooler and back to the tank seems the best to me also, might have to put an anti siphon system in so oil cant flow backwards and over load the motor while sitting... Good Stuff Crazy, thanks!

TK carbs! still have a stock set leftover from my KZ550. Miss that vicious little bike. Good find.

Yes, it was a good find... and cheap. ;)

The plan is to strip off all the non-essentials and ride it on the track days2 to 3 times a year. Now I won't be scared of busting up the Mongrel. ;D

Eventually, I'd like to get my paws on a GPz engine or at least the heads and cams. Bigger carbs can be used too. More power to be had there. 8) That's a ways down the road though. ;) ;D

No sir. 550. :D

We're going to build a track bike out of it. 8)

Just saying KZ550 makes my wrist throb... I lost the back end on one at Moroso maybe 85ish and the slowest high side in history broke 4 bones in my gas hand, one navicular that will never heal... Loved that skinny little Kow.

RD

Wow. That's crazy Tune :( They really are more lively than the Honda 550, that's for sure. Good luck finding a GPZ setup Drewski. If I see one locally I'll let you know :)

Appreciate the memories shared, and the encouragement from my DTT peeps. ;) ;D

I really am looking forward to getting her squared away and on the track. :D

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me Bruno! ;D 8)

My newest bike 06' Bonneville Thruxton...... she will do 125 MPH indicated hitting the rev limiter........

It isn't bad with the clip-ons but I will be adding a flyscreen to keep the bugs out of my face. I think it has 40 spoke wheels, but not positive. It is cold and raining or I would go outside to check........

Looking for 40 spoke for my CB project, Excels are $250 a hoop and this gives me another search option.

Nice score. I have been looking at one as well.

I know on the new ones the front is a 36 and the back is a 40 spoke 17 x 3.5
