Alright then. Well seeing as how I'm not building a motor right now.I did get the plug out and the threads may be salvagable but I think I still want cases that fit in the frame. I'm afraid that without the rubber dampners this thing will vibrate my fillings out. and I'm no machinist(i wish I was) the surfaces are not perfect. If you have read my thread you'll know what I mean. Anyhow I want to move on to lights I want yalls opinion. I want to bring in some vintage flair with the details try and drown out some of the moderness of the suspension. I was thinking of doing a 6 3/4 headlight with the beehive bullet turnsignals like in the pic below and do the same style in the rear. These will double as brake lights. I may have room under the tail to do a discreet strip of leds in the center. I would also like to do a visor setup on the front. Let me know what you think.
Well the shit just keeps coming. I found out today that they are closing my shop down and I am without a job in a month. :'( This kinda sucks cause this the third job I've had in the past year. Just keep getting laid off. so this project may be on hold for a while. I will see how the job hunt goes. It is going well i will probably buy parts. I started this job in Sept and after being unemployed for three months I start getting job offers like every day but I had just started with this company and they assured me they were there to stay. Fuckin liars pardon my language. I'm sure you understand. We'll see. I have two people with cases that I could buy but now I'm not sure. I'll be raking in a ton ot till I get the axe so I'll have some extra money but kinda hard to justify buying parts when I know I won't have ajob shortly. Peace Travis
I'm diesel mechanic. I don't get it everything in the damn country gets shipped by a truck and yet the trucking industry is in shambles. We need a bail out. I'll be fine but like I said its just hard to justify parts ordering when you know yore gonna lose your job. but with that said at least i didn't go to work and get handed a pink slip and no more job anymore. i at least have a month to find a job. I feel worse for my foresack as hes really not a mechanic or a foreman. I don't know what he's gonna do. been there 12 years and hes been doing nothing for all of it. nice guy but worthless as an employee. Thanks for the comment I'll still be around I have some free projects on the bike I can do.
Well I removed the kickstand knuckle from my 82 frame so I can put it on the 85 frame I'm working with. I found the original kickstand interfered with my foot where the rearset is mounted. I will have to rebuild the linkage before i can weld on the kickstand in its new location. I'm using the 82 because it is smaller so it will fit better under the engine. It will be moved to under the stator cover. So I wanted to do something fun. I had one of the rubber boots from the airbox sitting on the bench so I grabbed it and started cutting. i cut the lips off of it witha razor blade and then sanded it down with my 4 inch grinder and a flap wheel of all things. then I sprayed them with some of that plastic dip for wrench handles and the like. It filled in the imperfections of the flap wheel and rejuvenated them. have a look. I don't know if anyone has done this before its the first time for me.

Hahaha I don't think I'll go that route again. I am a former Marine. So i'm good there. I'll find something. Just hope it lasts a little longer. I thought the stack idea was pretty clever. I'm glad I could help.
I was just reading B Rats post thinking "What would the drill instructor think about a former Marine joining the A.F.?". You would hear about that for weeks (literally).
Whatever you did in the service, thanks for doing it. I'm sure you'll say it's not a big deal, but thanks
Yeah I don't think I'd ever hear the end of that one. At least till the Marine knocks down the drill instructor. ;D But thanks for the comment. Means alot.
Well wtf my computer goes down for a week and a half and twistedz thread goes from 5 pages to 12 I have a lot of catching up to do. Well heres an update on my status. I have purchased a shed and got all of the yard care crap out of my garage. More room to build a lot more inspiring out there now. I have been working on the bike some. i got the parts for my suspension and got that put back together again. With the bike back on the ground i could mount the kickstand from my 82 frame on the bike im working on. The original would interfere with my foot when I tried to shift. I also began welding my front fender up. I welded up the cuts that i had made and ground them down now I just need to make mounts and then do some bondo and paint. I would like to get some ideas for the mounts for the fender. I will get some dimensions and maybe someone could make a template that I could use. Then the person that designs the best looking mount could say they designed those mounts. If anyone is feeling artistic let me know. I will post some pics when I get some programs reinstalled on my computer. Peace Travis
Re: kawi gpz 750 I'm back want ideas for front fender mounts.
bump is noone gonna photoshop some shit for me I know I am the shit but I thought it would be cool to include the community in this little design aspect. I have plate steel that i could use to make the mount out of.
Re: kawi gpz 750 I'm back want ideas for front fender mounts.
No more "Project Damn It"? Good to have you back man. Are you looking for some crazy mount, a fork brace, or cool fenders I can't photoshop squat but I saw a bad ass fender on JCWhitney's reviews before. It was under their cheap azz Maier fenders
Re: kawi gpz 750 I'm back want ideas for front fender mounts.
Thanks big r I have the front fender I just need mounts I am thinking of using some 1/16" plate and cutting out an "A" shaped piece and drilling holes in it and welding it to the fender. I will probably just end up doing it my way just thought maybe someone might have a cool idea or have some cool pattern of holes or shape I could use. I dont think it will be a brace.
Re: kawi gpz 750 I'm back want ideas for front fender mounts.
well Duke asked where I was at. so heres an update. I have bought a shed so I've been reorganizing my garage. I have been working on my front fender and my kickstand and fixing my computer. heres some pics. Oh and I finished up the rear suspension. I also installed some different tapered head bearings.
Re: kawi gpz 750 I'm back want ideas for front fender mounts.
im thinking more of welding the mounts to the side of the fender I have. As you can see I have modified it to fit snugly over the 17 inch rim as opposed to the 19 it was over.
