Re: Project Gretta...."Fin".....Or is it?

Gretta.....getting a little love. Spending some time on some sheet metal, trying to get a new seat done. This is just a preview. The plan is to totally wrap this seat in an oiled bison skin I have with white stitching and copper rivets holding it all down. Here it is so far....

Oh you're in it this time! You should hear it run with her new carbs. It is DIALED in. It has never run as good as she does now. I can't wait Tim, it'll be an even bigger blast this year!

Thanks marc. Feels great to be back in the shop. It has been a hell of a few months and things are finally back to normal. My apologies to all those neglected, but its good to be back in it.

THERE HE IS! how you doing brother! hope all is well, dig the new profile of the seat but why not run it down over the frame rails? to keep the line of the bottom of the tank?

Can't even begin to describe how frickin' awesome Gretta's looking. Question: Did you silver solder the seat? (asking 'cause of the propane torch) What gauge did you use for the sheet?

DAMN YOU! I WAS SOOOOO CLOSE... just SO close to having my thread be longer then yours... but NOOOOO, you had to go and spoil it with this "new seat"

can't you just be happy with how awesome gretta is already? can't you?!

;)

Nice, I like the profile, and the Bison skin sounds cool. I had a bison burger last weekend, very tasty! Love this bike soo much, and I am glad you got the carbs dialed in. I hope to get to barber this year to see it again. I am looking for things to sell to get the new tires for nudiewing and the gas for the trip. My wife just may be getting a new job too that will help. Fingers crossed. I miss you guys.

Kiley, I've had a long day and I'm pooped........so great work man. That is all for tonight.

All good brother, you are indeed the main person I was sending apologies to for all of the time I've been out of service. We are in it now brother, and parts are coming your way man. Thanks for being you Rich.

David.....you'll never beat me simply because I'm pretty sure my thread is entirely bike related. And my bike has been finished several times throughout it.....hahahaha! I kid man!

Mike, we miss you too man, and would love nothing more than to have you in the dirty south this year. I can't wait!

Uploading to PB as we speak. Finished the pan tonight, ready for some upholstery!

Almost missed this one. Seat was stitch welded at the seams and then yes sir, silver soldered to fill the holes then hand filed. Worked out very well. I'm poor and can't afford a proper TIG, so there ya have it! Oh yeah and it's 20g.

Seat pan done. 3/16 rod bent and welded around perimeter of seat for rigidity. All smoothed and ready to be upholstered. I also trimmed a good bit off of the rear of the cowl. The tail light shows more from the side, and the angle of the rear matches the angle of the "back rest" now. Much cleaner. Here are a few shots.

It's all getting upholstered with brown leather to cover the metal. I plan to use copper or brass rivets around the perimeter. Then a separate pad will go for the seat and back pad using some diamond pattern brown leather. That's the plan anyway!

Looks like Gretta is going to just get better and better with age!! The seat pan looks great brother and by the way, pretty cool finishing out the welds with silver solder
