Project: Pariah - CJ360T | Now with bad pics of even worse welds

Ha! Purdy is the wife's old last name....not going there.

That was just the way my buddy showed me, and of course he's able to do the nice looking welds. Still lots of practicing for sure. Probably won't be a lot in the way of updates until the beads start looking better. This is the only thing holding me up at the moment, but I think it will be worth the wait to have done it myself.

Well, the wire feed mechanism on the harbor freight welder just died . I'd be more surprised if it worked flawlessly for years, but the bottom line here is that the welder is dead, my skills are not yet up to par, and it's yet another delay. It kinda blows ass.

Luckily, however, tomorrow is the last day that I can return the item to the store for a complete refund, so that's what I'm going to do. I'm also lucky now in that I've got access to a proper MIG, it's just at a shop about ten minutes away from my house. Doable, but a bit more of a pain in the ass. I'm going to keep my eye out for a good deal on CL for a better welder and we'll see what I can come up with.

I'm about done with the delays, but I know it's all part of it.

Im a fan Indie... keep up the good work, keep practicing the welds, they will get better and better.

Hey you never know until you try, right? At least someone can say with firsthand knowledge that these welders aren't worth the box they're shipped in. With the refund, I can just think of it as a free education, and you can never fill up on knowledge.

With all the amazing builds on here, it's pretty cool you guys check mine out. Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to get this thing out for powder and make things more interesting.

Thanks for keeping me on it. My GS had some electrical issues I had to sort, not to mention the exhaust and jetting for it. My access to a welder has been somewhat limited as well, as my friend with the shop has been out of the country for business.

However, a plan was actually set in motion last night to get the CJ moving again. I don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet, but if things come together it's going to look vastly different in just a couple short weeks.

Bueller?? HAHAHAAAAA Hey Indie, it wasn't you that said they still had a few newish air filters for CJ's was it? I can't remember who on here said that.

Belch and Sonreir...Nothing that drastic. Just hoping to get a bunch of progress made. Sorry to disappoint. :)

Frogman - that is indeed me. They've only got a few hundred miles on them. I had to order the right side from CMS in Holland.

I can send you some photos if you like.

I may take you up on that here in a few, it will be awhile before I get rolling again though so no hurry.

Should have the frame, battery box and electrics tray done by the end of next week. I gots plans.

Well, this went to shit fast, and probably aint happenin' this week now. Fucking black ice.
