Re: Re: The 3sixty Project...(Rear sets!)

Building a KZ440. I have one, just havent updated it in ages.

Re: The 3sixty Project...(Rear sets!)

big inspiration for my upcoming cb360 build (yeah another i guess).

How much welding do you do? and how far are you local suppliers?

If you don't do too much and your local supplier is close i'd say get a small bottle, it will be easy to move around with that unit and you can get it filled cheap. Since i do a lot of welding i'll go through an 80cu tank in a week at my garage, so i borrow a huge 200cu tank off my machinist.

Buying a bottles the way to go, get the cost out of the way that way you can just get it filled. Mom and pop places are a lil further and less convenient but in the long run if they get to know you will treat you great and you can upgrade your tank in the future by doing a trade in. They're also less costly to fill/exchange at.

Thanks and thanks for the tips. I don't do alot of welding, only with these projects
so I think you right about the smaller bottle.
Time to start shopping around.

Big-D any pics?

Picked up this hobart handler 140 off kijiji a few days ago.
Just trying to work out the best place to get gas.
Any tips!

TACO BELL???

Just kidding, couldn't resist. Great looking bike. I'm hoping to get started on some of my bike projects soon. Everytime I see someone build one with just basic tools it makes me want to modify stuff.

I thought the same at first having to check and recheck the direction.
The front tire has both front and back arrows, depending on which you decide to use.
Kind of odd looking. ???
Heres a pic.

Thanks

Hey guys, not sure if this was answered yet. The reason is its different from a car is because when you have the bike leaned over you want the water going to the centre and away from the sides where the traction is

Re: The 3sixty Project...(Rear sets!)

Great looking bike.

Re: Re: The 3sixty Project...(Rear sets!)

TIPS!!!! i have that exact welder!! ok the fluxcore does alright but will kill you, be sure to use .30 wire cause any thicker and that thing wont work right. as for gas local welding shops usually sell you a tank of about any size you want then you you just swap it with a fresh one when you are out. the gas you need is an argon co2 mix its 20% co2 and 80% argon. you can get it in diff variations but im pretty sure this is what my setup is. they will advise you when you get the tank so its nothing to sweat over. good luck with it and your gonna love that welder. just remember to check your polarity if you switch from fluxcore to solid. you have to reverse it (see manual) pretty easy to switch between the 2. again, good luck bro!

Re: Re: The 3sixty Project...(Rear sets!)

also as far as settings go you will have to find your own preference which will vary depending on material but 35 - 40 WS works pretty good on the 3 V level then 37- 45 WS does good on 4V... low spatter

remember if you get a lot of spatter and popping back off on WIRE SPEED on this machine (a bigger machine you can also bump up your voltage, this one isnt as flexible)

if the wire is melting at the tip bump up your WIRE SPEED (or you can turn down your voltage, chances are if you do this you wont get good penetration with this small machine so id try the first option)

hope this helps and if you have any issues feel free to call or text me ive used this welder for almost 2 years now and have learned it pretty well. 828-284-7075 Kegan

Thanks for all the tips! Ran into a few of the issues you mentioned last weekend, but loving this welder! What a difference for my 90amp flux core!
Question what wire roller tension works best for .30 wire? Also I'm running the c25 gas, what flow works best for you?
Thanks again.

Re: The 3sixty Project...(New welder!)

Loving the bike! Your previous build is one I look at fairly often for inspiration, and this one's looking to go down the same route. For some reason the GSXR forks are the only ones I like the look of on older cafes. Awesome!

Thanks very much! Glad to hear the 360 is an inspiration.
Agreed...after seeing the forks on a few others builds I had
to give it a go. :D

Thanks m511y!

find one on eBay. :D

Re: The 3sixty Project...(New welder!)

I have no clue how I missed this build! Your new build is sick, great job. After seeing your last cb360 it inspired me to start a cafe build. Your wheels look great! Could you elaborate on using a garbage bag to install tires. I'm almost to the stage in my build to assemble my wheels. Also did you have any rust in the inside center of the rim? Was wondering how you combated that.

Great job! Cant wait to see how this one turns out!

Thanks Erick...glad to hear It inspired you!
Yes I had a bit of rust on the luck 7even build, I wire wheeled the
rim to remove the rust and sprayed the inside of the rim with rust paint.
Here's the link to the garbage bag tire change.
I still need the tire irons but only at the very end of the installation.

Re: The 3sixty Project...(New welder!)

I watched this! It does work... I changed a front tire with nothing more than socks on my feet, boxers on my waist and a garbage bag.
For performance tires and such, I could see why you would still need irons, but for a basic 1-Ply for $30 off Dennis Kirk, this process works a charm.
