Sakura the Sake Rocket

I'm normally better about this.....

Haplo_84: Thanks again man, great idea!

Schaubster: Thanks!

Big Rich: Thank you too sir, hope all is well with you and the Missus!

MarcW: Thanks mate, she's a peach huh?

jk333: Thanks amigo! How's that 500 coming? Just to throw in.....were it mine i'd ditch that 16" rear wheel (can't be stock on a 500) and go for an 18.

Justin and Von: High praise coming from you guys, thanks much!

JRK5892: Thanks man, I like the idea of them but I see what others have said about the lack of contact area....especially with regard to the thin sheetmetal on that tank. I'll be reworking them to suit more...stay tuned.

:) I've got an ever changing storm of ideas for it in my head, haha. To be honest with you, I decided to swap out the rear 16 a while ago. I agree an 18 will look much better. You guys keep inspiring me to go above and beyond!

i have a stock 18 rim from a CB500 i would trade...
Right now, life stuff is happening and the ol' 500 is kind of taking a back seat. lol. I appreciate the offer. What are you looking for in trade? Maybe we could work something out.

See how it works round here? I effing love the joint!

Back to topic, I just inked a deal for some really sweet details on the bike from a supplier of traditional Japanese cultural......"items". I'll keep this under my hat for the time being but I did a little happy dance at the end of THAT conversation! Stay tuned.....

So it's not gonna happen on this one, but I have another titled frame that will get this seat and tank combo (with a little work). Couldn't help but play around since it's 122* (fookin' hot!) in the shop, too hot to do much work.

Re: The Sakura Roadster project.....
Still hung up playing a waiting game on one effing gasket and two long ass stainless screws. Still haven't had the time (or gumption with this heat....ugh) to get my alloy motor plates done either. Something about standing in the hot chip shower on a blazing hot day just doesn't make me wanna grin. Once the plates are done the swinger will go in and a set of forks up front so I can roll it about and make motorcycle noises (you know you do it too!) while I work out the details of my super secret all aluminum front end.....
<insert diabolical laughter here>

i like the seat! a bit of fiberglass around it and make the seat be the inner section like the pad section in a cafe seat, would look and feel awesome!!

I dig it too Joe, thank for setting that deal up!
I think rather that add glass around it, I'll hang it like it looks now but with a couple modifications. First, the 'plastic base' is thermally active above 200*f meaning I can heat it up and carefully reshape it a little. The plan is to drop the nose down to the frame rails (as much as I like the shape as it, that'll allow a bit more room to shift weight on the bike. As well, I'll spread the sides of the front portion and they'll drop right over the frame, conversely I could also simply trim back the sides of the front and once upholstered it would give a little reveal of the frame rails before they tuck back under the seat and tank. I really like that idea.

Anyway, it's a ways off as I need to concentrate on getting customer work done and then Sakura.....but I'll get there.

Means a lot coming from you G, thanks very much.
I too wish my friends were closer. Lots of shop space in this building.........

Brother it has been a while since I checked in on your build as I have been so busy with work, you have gotten a lot done and it all looks beautiful!
