Havent done much to the SR lately, got some new grey Renthal grips, modified the old and crusty throttle grip from my xt.

Also did a horrible knee indent job on my spare tank, but the very crude finish is growing on me lol

Thanks man:) ohh yea i forgot about the spring :/ i'll measure it asap.

I put a yamaha logo on one side of the rank aswell, just waiting for the paint to dry so i can do the other side, sand it a little, then clear the whole thing.

Sweet dog btw, is that yours?

No need to stress about the measuring,it lays around till u finding out if u need it.
Really like how this bike`s coming together ;)
The one in my avatar is my Euro boxer (english) that passed away from cancer last january at the age of 6yrs :'(!
She made a sadface for a cookie ;)
Still have her son around :) :)

Ok sounds good:) and thanks again, im keeping this crude tank as a spare for now though, the contrast between the tank and the rest of the bike is a little too much imo.
I recently broke up with my gf and she took the dog with her, still miss it every day.

Took an old oil stick thermometer and adapted a family crest keychain thing into it, will edit this post when i get home from work.

And a pic of the yamaha logo on the tank

The tank looks cool, but as u said yourselves it would be a little wrong compared to the rest of the bike!

yea im going to save this one for another bike:) the gas cap had no key for the lock so i made a release handle and put a copper or brass like kitchen drawer knob on the lock to cover it:)

I dont know if i`ve asked about this before, but what wheels are you using on thisone??

stock 18x 1.85 front and rear rims on stock painted spokes and hubs, new bearings:)

If you mean tires then i havent quite decided yet, im far from rich so for starters ill get a new rear tire, probably something dual sport in 140-80 x 18. Front tire; i dont know, it handles relatively well with the 100-90 x 18 and its still soft and with plenty of tread so when it wears down a little more or i get more money in my hands, then i will look at it again and decide.

But im open for suggestions for tire type, sizes etc. What do you think would be cool? Bear in mind i drive mostly on tarmac, and only about 10 percent of the time on gravel and dirt.

Oh btw forgot to edit in a pic yesterday, here it is. Using it on the xt550.

Conti classicattack are relatively good looking and not to expensive and if you get them from Germany it would be cheaper as well to your location, havent read any rewievs on them, but they looks mint!
Yamaha makes some nicelooking rims for sure!!
Gotta bunk, of to job in 4 hrs!

i like those tires you suggested, i liked the trail versions with the open pattern more though:) edit: this one http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=300927555785
i think it would look cool with the trail version in the rear, and maybe the classic attack on the front. Still dont know and i cant afford them right now anyway:(

Had a second look at the rims last night and
The rear rim is a 2.15, and they are stamped "D.I.D". I think theyre stock but i have a 19inch wheel with another type of rim, also sr500 so now im not sure.

Man, that paint on the spare tnak looks great! How did you do that?
thanks, it was by accident while i was trying to remove the black which is on top. But i guess you could get same result by first painting and clearing a red, then sand lightly, apply black and let it dry, dont clear it on top. Then take some acetone(i bet gas would work just as good) on a kitchen rag and wipe almost all of the black away. Then, using the same colorfilled rag, press it against the tank in a random fashion. Use more acetone if you need to make the paint wet again during this step.

I actually wanted to have it like that all over but the paint underneath had two silver stripes which made it look weird to me. Hope you can use it:)

Thats cheap:) i am also looking for error purchased tires in dba.dk(site for selling/buying in dk) i might get lucky and since my current tires are still ok, time is on my side:)
I just like the look of the dual sports type tires, even though i rarely need them lol. Always a compromise, one way or the other IMO:) must be nice to live in a forest, do you have like winding gravel roads and small trails there?
