Shotgun's GSX250 build with costs

Figured i should update with a bit of the progress i have been making.

I have been umming and ahhing about wether to buy a "cafe" seat or to build a flat i guess you could call it "bratstyle" type seat. Well the second one won out because im very much into doing everything myself and i ended up fibreglassing up a pan this afternoon.

I had made up a cafe style seat template earlier in the week but i ended up going the flat style route last minute. My quickie cardboard template covered in duct tape and glad wrap/cling wrap.

Glassed up seatpan, still wet. I layed in some aluminium flatbar for a bit of strength as it overhangs the tail about an inch or two and because i dont own a welder i cant weld a support to the frame.

There is a really great recycled hardware store on the other side of the city i live in that i picked up a few bits and pieces from a few weeks ago. I got some recycled brown leather for the cover and some latex padding for the cushioning. I hope its not too soft though as id like the seat to look reasonably professional.

Total cost for all the materials for the seat was $39.

Ive also stripped the tank down to bare metal and am contemplating the colour scheme at the moment. I actually quite like the brushed steel look it has right now so i may even just give it an acrylic clearcoat for a bit of protection while i decide on a more permanent scheme.

Total cost in this update: $39
Total spent so far: $691.25
Remaining: $1308.75

Ok so ive been mega slack with the updates but im basically almost ready to get the bike registered and riding. Rather than go into bike porn details with what ive done ill just upload pictures. Again, terrible phone pics because im lazy and still haven't gotten back the dslr lens i need for decent shots from my friend.

Bars are easyrider drag bars from Nitroheads, new handlebar switch and speedo from DCC. The throttle is the old switch block throttle, it will be getting swapped out as soon as i sort out a throttle cable for the new one i have.

Seat was made by myself from scraps of leather and fibreglass. Tail light is a $12 ebay special.

Pipes were imported from Japan, Tank is NOS sourced from Singapore. Am planning on wrapping the pipes (of course...)

The silver button mounted in the opposite side to the speedo is a vandal proof momentary switch that i am using as the starter.

The bike isnt nearly done, but its getting to the point where mostly everything that needs doing is only aesthetic, as you can tell from these pics there are a few things that look dodgy like that washer on the speedo's bolt.

Once i have it registered i will put up some videos with what she looks like running.

Oh, and please ignore all the crap on the ground. Im not exactly doing this in a workshop, its pretty much all been done on my rear patio.

Looking good so far!

You forgot to post the price of that NOS tank.......but I would guess it was a pretty penny......

The NOS tank wasn't too bad really, it was $249.95 which included shipping.

Pipes and Bars cost around $360 shipped.

Have also purchased other miscellaneous bits and pieces like brake light, oil, filter, spark plugs, fuel line, sealed battery and brake pads that have totaled approximately $150.

So costs this update were $759.95
Running total cost is $1451.20
Remaining $548.80

Am looking at coming in at around the $2000 mark including registration

She's lookin' good Shotgun! I'm another Brissie boy here, currently scrambling an '82 450E myself.

Where's this recycled hardware store you were talking about where you scored the leather and padding? I need to do my seat and not sure if I'm doing it myself or paying someone to do it yet... I'm north westish of the city...
