Figured i should update with a bit of the progress i have been making.
I have been umming and ahhing about wether to buy a "cafe" seat or to build a flat i guess you could call it "bratstyle" type seat. Well the second one won out because im very much into doing everything myself and i ended up fibreglassing up a pan this afternoon.
I had made up a cafe style seat template earlier in the week but i ended up going the flat style route last minute. My quickie cardboard template covered in duct tape and glad wrap/cling wrap.
Glassed up seatpan, still wet. I layed in some aluminium flatbar for a bit of strength as it overhangs the tail about an inch or two and because i dont own a welder i cant weld a support to the frame.
There is a really great recycled hardware store on the other side of the city i live in that i picked up a few bits and pieces from a few weeks ago. I got some recycled brown leather for the cover and some latex padding for the cushioning. I hope its not too soft though as id like the seat to look reasonably professional.
Total cost for all the materials for the seat was $39.
Ive also stripped the tank down to bare metal and am contemplating the colour scheme at the moment. I actually quite like the brushed steel look it has right now so i may even just give it an acrylic clearcoat for a bit of protection while i decide on a more permanent scheme.
Total cost in this update: $39
Total spent so far: $691.25
Remaining: $1308.75
