Another little idea that I wanted to put on this bike was the key switch. In my opinion I dislike when bikes have buttons and switches all over the handle bars. My philosophy has always been to keep the handlebars and controls as clean as possible, which keeps things simple and sharp. So I didn't want a starter button or key switch up around the bars. The key switch I used is popular among custom harleys and I decided to use it on this bike. The cool thing about this switch is that it does not need a started button. It works like a car starter. 1st position is off, 2nd position is on or power, and 3rd position is start. The 3rd position is spring loaded and return to the 2nd position once it is released, thus eliminating the starter button. It required a little figuring out with the wiring but i making my own harness anyways so no biggie. I was to mount this on the right side of the bike under the carbs.

I also wanted to eliminate the hi-low beam switch on the bars. I simply drilled a hole in the headlight bucket and mounted a toggle switch there. Simple and vintage looking.

Another "trick" that you can see in this pic... Cables. I used new cables on the bike and just shortened them. But I personally dont like the shiny look of new cables. So if you have new or especially if you are using old cables, you can heat shrink the cables. It gives them a nice matte look and of course makes them look new.

Thanks tsbigdog... Im honored to be even mentioned for BOTM with all the beast bikes on here. I will say one thing. When I first decided to get into the cafe racer building business I specifically decided that for my first example that I wanted to transform the most pedestrian bike I could find. I wanted to get a bike thats been done alot but considered by many to be the "red headed step child" lol so to speak. I figured if I could make cm400 look awesome, and if I can make it hold its own against the more desired "cafe racer" bikes then that would be great advertising and let all potential clients out there know, hey if he could do this to a 1980 cm400e then think what he could do to a ______ u name it. I dont have a big head about my work, there are so many awesome bikes on here that I just drool over, and very many capable builders. Guys with just nasty welding skills and guys that imaginations I envy, I just like a clean simple look that is functional and appealing to look at. Thats my philosiphy with any bike Ive built from custom harleys to sport bikes to cafe racers. And the feedback on this forum has been nothing but positive, constructive, and unassuming. I will do a build thread on here for all the bikes that Sin City builds, not just for advertising but because I thoroughly enjoy the interaction between the members of dotheton. I am leaving the country for a week for vacation, then there will be another build thread starting. Cant wait!!!

I'll try to put the nomination up. It will be my first time nominating, so hopefully it will go through. I think you just might need to post some new pictures up. Some of the ones you posted are a little blurry. Just don't drink a Red Bull 10 minutes before you take the photo.

Sorry, It's too late to nominate for this month. I'll try to remember for next month. If I forget then someone else should put it up.
