Been Around the Block
Alright so im finally gettin around to rebuilding my 360. Bought it over the summer and rode it until I think I blew a ring so its time to rebuild and customize. Bought it bone stock and started trying to get it customized to at least look like a cafe bike. Started tearing it down today, got the engine out today and then ran into a bunch of stripped screws so im stalled until tomorrow. Im not to go good with build threads so ill try to keep pictures rolling.

Gonna be a slow build sadly, I only get to work on it on the weekends when I come home from school.

Plan for next weekend is to finish the engine tear down, its pretty close just needs a few more things. Ordering new gaskets and bolt kit as well as whatever I find needs to be replaced while looking at the internals.
Also looking for a 6 spd tranny if anyone knows where I might be able to find one.

Made some more progress today, have to go back to school now though so next weekend I want to get the pistons pulled and finish breaking down the case, then meet with my buddy and have him show me what all I need to replace component wise

Is this your first time engine build or have you done this before ?
Also, the link to my July rebuild. You might find something useful.

Thanks!! Ill check it out!
Yes its my first build with a bike.... I know my way around car engines but this is new to me

I did my first top end rebuild on my 360 and it all worked out well with the help of the guys in this forum...

I don't have a lot of how to in my build thread but it might help you from some of the things that caused me some grief.

BTW how did you get a six speed tranny?

Who? me? Trek97?

CB360 and CL360 came with a 6 speed... CJ360 came with 5 speed if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, you are correct. The CJ360 was the cheapy version...It offered the 5 speed and No electric start...kick only.

You can swap in a six speed from a CB or CL, but you need the gears and the drum. The shaft and countershaft aren't necessary (I don't think), but it's usually all sold together.

Yeah ive got a 5 and want a six

Sonreir will it stay in the case I have or will I need to replace the case?

if you swap cases w a CB/CL you will either have to install a starter or get PJ to machine a plug to fill the starter cavity.

It'll fit in your current case. The only difference between the cases is the starter motor cutout.

Good deal. A quick FYI though... you probably won't be able to pull to redline in 6th unless you find a few more ponies. 6th is just for dropping the revs a bit if you do a lot of highway driving. 5th is already an overdrive gear, 6th even more so.
