Re: sr 250 cafe - rachel

frame was chopped and welded to accomodate the nitroheads seat. tank mounting bolt had to be recessed to allow clearance for the seat. ignition relocated, light mounted, pipe wrapped etc etc.. been really busy and travelling a lot for work, but back now so should be updating more regularly. not long to go now.

Where did you buy the batteries? Mong Kok? I'm looking to replace the battery on my bobber for something lighter, my new fender is way heavy and I want to shave some weight off in other places
i have a source for the batteries, if you're keen PM me and I'll give you the down low.

Mr Wolf

What's wrong with your existing shocks? How are you finding all that additional length?

Everything is looking great. Well done

i actually had another old of progressives lying around. they are about an inch and a half shorter. i got them on and it's looking good. the bike handled fine with the longer shocks, it was just an issue with the way the bike looked, its supposed to be a cafe and the rear end was too high making it look more like a tracker. hoping to finish it off soon, just in the middle of a serious electrical crisis. not my strong-point and proper technical support in hong kong is not readily available.

i'll figure it out though and post some more pics on how i get along.

Re: sr 250 cafe - rachel

these tabs on the ends were welded on to the frame to slot into the existing mounts for the nitroheads seat. so to those of you that were wondering if the nitroheads for the sr400/500 is a direct bolt on it is certainly not and requires some serious modification. the tank mounting area (the area with the single bolt, not the front mounts) had to be recessed too, so the front of the seat would clear the mounting bolt.

definitely possible, but requires some work. i had a friend do the welding for me.

Re: sr 250 cafe - rachel

Very cool - I've got the motolanna cafe racer seat..which is fairly identical, but have made up a little bracket that secures the existing mounting points to the fender, eliminating the need to tap the frame rails - I'll post a pic when it's all done. Really keen to see what the Nitroheads seat looks like sitting on the frame with that stance and drag bars!!

Have you made a tray for the battery/electronics to fit under the seat using those old airbox/batter holder mounting points??

There's a guy on ebay here in Australia that does pretty cheap quality shocks...I think his ebay store is called tecshox. Might be worth checking them out if you're still wanting some.

I've got a set that are really nice to ride with, I'll measure them next time I'm at my parent's farm, what kind of length are you looking at? If they are suited to your needs I'll give you a good deal :)

Oh and if you need a sheet metal fab guy I know of a guy up in Sai Kung

you mean the dude from welloiled engineering? also i got some shocks already, thanks anyway dude!

Re: sr 250 cafe - rachel

Not sure, he's called Tom, has a small workshop tucked away in Sai Kung about a minute past Hebe Haven Yacht Club, next door to him is a guy who works on most of the vintage british bikes in HK, I've seen old Enfields, BSAs go through his place. I also think he's got a couple Nortons and a Sunbeam hidden away somewhere.

hey man will get the seat back on as soon as i get the wiring sorted. i'm just using a small triangular plate that sits flush with the bottom of the frame rails, so you won't see anything from the sides. using a123 cells they fit in that tiny space. keen to tie it all together.

Re: sr 250 cafe - rachel

got the custom fabbed light and plate mount painted and ready to go. bike should be done by this weekend, will post pics asap.
