SR500 build

Wow, what a graduation gift this will be! Plenty of motivation for any young man to keep their nose in the books :)

Thing is, he's already graduated, come home for 2 months, then got an amazing job in his chosen field back in the city he went to school in lol. He patiently waiting for me to finish it then deliver it to him. I'm going to load the SR and my CB in the truck and drive down to spend a week riding with him in the spring. Cant wait!

That sounds awesome. Sounds like some great quality time will be had on some beautiful bikes.

Great build, surprisingly, the thing i find most impressive is that you could dig through all that data and mix and match up the suspension swaps!!! Oh that and the awsome aluminiium work.

New tires!

Front fits nice and tight.

Ignore the rear sets lol. Just a mock up for seating position.

Thanks man! I'm pretty stoked on how it's turning out. It's by far the coolest bike I've built to date, but then again, I'm building it as a gift for my son so I admit to getting a bit carried away sometimes. I have never come close to putting the time and money into anything for myself lol. Sometimes I find myself just sitting and looking at it for long stretches, and thats part of the build. I get all kinds of ideas on what to do next lol.

I think I need help! :p

Thanks rundown! The front forks were purely blind luck. I've had those forks in my garage for at least 20 years and the way they fit was a pure fluke lol. The aluminum work is not that great considering the tools I have to work with but I improvise and it all comes out decent.

Picked up this Russell braided steel brake line with black chrome fittings. Looks very cool.

Baddass.

Took me a long time to get the system bled completely. Brakes feel great standing still, cant wait to see how they perform in the real world.

Had a cool little billet bar end mirror and I ordered this little mount. Pretty cool as well.

Probably run it below the bar.

Using these tabs on the underside of the top triple clamp to mount the speedometer but they are too long so....

Made an aluminum mount and painted it to match the clamp.

Speedo mounted. Decided to now run a tach so I'll be making another bracket lol.

All the new controls are now fitted. Just waiting for speedo, grips and a clutch cable. Probably going to add a tach.

Joe did the frenched in tail light tonight. I still have to do some final filing and sanding and secure the light, but it looks baddass already. Super stoked on this.

Coming along nicely!
What's the paint scheme going to be? (I'm sure I missed it somewhere)
