Stone's CB450 project Tamara

Re: Stone's CB360

Nice! Same set up I've got. I went to put mine back together and found that the GS pistons are a little narrower...meaning that the CB wrist pins are the correct diameter, but they are a little too long to clip in. I tried ordering the GS pistons, but they are on National backorder. And seeing as how Japan is falling apart, I am not expecting them to come any time soon.

I have seen some where they have little spacers that fit in the ends of the wrist pin and just keep it centered in the cylinder, but I don't know if I want something else rubbing on the inside of cylinder. I am probably going to machine or grind the wrist pins to the correct length so that they fit.

Let me know if you come up with any clever ideas.

PJ - what have you done for this? You are the wise one that has given us all the ideas about doing this swap!

Re: Stone's CB360

it seems to be the hot setup for the 360 thanks to PJ!
I found new suzuki pins on ebay when I bought the pistons, I have one extra piston and 2 extra sets of rings if anyone needs them (gs)
I would mill the others down I'll get you a measurement on the gs pins

Re: Stone's CB360

Shortening pins is pretty easy. I've managed to get GS pins so far though.
I think Yamaha XS400 pins may be same length as GS, I'll try and find more information

Re: Stone's CB360

I just had my engine rebored with 1mm over, and i can tell the difference on that. this thing will be able to power wheel though some gears.

Hey would you mind taking a pic of your rear sets again so i can see why there is a lock bushing against the buddy peg mount.

i made my own too, but running in to some clearance issues, and stuff.

thanks

What compression are you running, Stone?
not sure I'm gonna laser some copper gaskets and see how thick I should cut them and if I should mill the head or not. whats the best combo PJ?

SOOOOO Didnt think of doing that.... might have to con the laser guys in to running some test cuts.
or beg you like i am going to the Firing squad for a trade of dead presidents for one. ;D

is it possible to mill the head down on the 360? if you do, i might have to ask how much too.
i know there is enough room to run a tractor though it but are the valves going to clear?

new cam with the bearing mod (dime city?) did last year?

Re: Stone's CB360

when I draw them and cut them I can cut you a set no problem
new cam ya, but i'm not gonna mess with the needle bearing thing, I am planning on running external oil lines to the head tho.
check out PJs build he is the resident 360 engine genious

Re: Stone's CB360

Stone, awesome work man. I'm digging all the go-fast bits.

Re: Stone's CB360

Love the work... a bit jealous.. wish I had the time, money and space.. PJ lives around the corner from me and has been helping me with my 360t big time! You would be amazed at what he knows.. if he gives you advice its probably going to be good! Can't wait to see how it turns out..

You mill the head to about 0.030"~0.040" above valve seat insert.
Then, you have to flycut combustion chamber edge back to bore size.
Then, you flycut pistons for valve clearance.
I've only done it once, now I just shorten block about 0.020"~0.030"

BTW, 'bdn3d' has possibly the LOUDEST 360 in the world, that's my 'dyno bike' system on it ::)

Re: Stone's CB360

Krash you have no idea how loud it is...but its awesome! I will proudly take the title

Loudest 360 in the world!!! ;D
