Suzuki GR650 - back to work...

Re: Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

Ha! Sorry man, no real progress to date. I've been pumping all my time and money into the little 450 to prepare it for riding season.

Now that the 450 is "done", there will be more updates on this throughout the summer.....

Re: Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

Hahahahaha.......No.

What are you after from it? The motor?

Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

No the whole thing...reviews from the time say it was an amazing handling machine...

Re: Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

Keep looking man. I have / had 3 of them, and might have a lead on a fourth. So they are still around. Most people abuse and neglect them though.

Well look who crawled out from under his rock. Been missing you around here!

Re: Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

Ah, shucks man...I've been running crazy busy lately. I've been lurking around here, but since I'm not currently building anything I haven't had much to contribute. Glad to see there are some physical constants, though, like Rich's GR's, Brads insanity, and Mikes crazy projects in his dining room!

And where is your new bike in here, I might add...?

Re: Suzuki GR650 - rear fender fitting......

Hahaha, well I'm in between projects myself so I don't blame you. I'll post up a pic or two of the Triumph in the 'latest purchase' thread. Don't work too hard man!

Sadly, this is the only way I'll ever get my 15 minutes of fame......

Now that the 450 is pretty well taken care of, I can get back to work on the old GR. Since I swapped the 35mm front end for a 37mm piece it warranted purchasing these:

Actually at a good time too.....sometime next week the GR is getting hauled around to get some work done. So much easier to move a bike with handle bars.....

From a 1981 GS850G. The "G" model is the touring model, the GL is the cruising model. They look almost identical to what I had before, except these have the air system in the forks as well.

And on a side note: the big red tank is from a 1980 GS850G.

Sorry Swagger, I was trying to think of why the 850 front end wasn't mentioned in this thread. I remembered that I stole the recent front end from the GR650 to put onto the GS450 (bigger diameter forks and dual disc brakes), and forgot to update this thread. But here is the GS850G front end before it was installed:

Notice the top clamp will be needing some aluminum cut off.......but otherwise it just bolted right on no problem.

Nice! I love that you['re still working on the 650.....it's good to have a 'personal bike', one that means more than just another ride.

What you doing monday morning ther sunshine. drag that son of a bitch to frostburg and ill drag out the welder and light up on it well be done befor noon.

Thanks Lee, I couldn't agree more. It is my first bike and I'd like for it to be my last.....

You got it Brad! I'll keep in touch......
