Oops - ya, just the speedo. The original is in good shape, but the rest of the cluster is shaped wierd. So I can't even use it for mounts. And the dual cluster in the pic is from a gs450 - should make it that much easier.
Started taking the speedo apart and checking for fitment along with cleaning everything up. Basically started out with this:
And ended up with this
Its assembled enough that I won't lose any parts so I can take it back apart when trying to fit into the bucket. The speedo will be getting some paint as well.
Really nice Rich. You may need to just make a small box to mount below to put some of the connections in instead of making them inside the headlight bucket, but I like that a lot.
Thanks Mike, but the wiring isn't too much of a problem. At least not yet. There is a little clash with the speedo cable and the headlight bulb socket. Just means I'll have to run 3 seperate wires instead of the socket. The fiberglass bucket from RCC is considerably larger than the stocker.
As for now, the headlight is put onto the back burner until I can figure out the dummy lights. I just don't know what (if anything) is going into the housing.
Thanks gents. I think I have an idea what to do with the dummy lights. But I'll reveal that as it gets closer....
So I started getting the motor back together last night. There's some small stuff to do like make some gaskets, get some o rings for the headcover, etc etc but it's nothing that can't be done later. The only real goof up is I forgot to polish the head while it was off so now I'll do it with a small air buffer - no big deal since I need to buff the cases anyway.
And thought I'd share this as well. Doesn't the side of the motor look like an angry face or something?
