The future of motorcycles is here!?

Been Around the Block
So I came across this today... I immediately drew the similiarities between it and bikes.
Its a hoverbike - Check it out, and let me know what you guys think! Its the real-deal, not a fake.

Slice - Not trying to jump all over your posts but I'm at work with nothing to do and this looks incredible. Thanks for sharing. We(people) are getting closer and closer the bikes to The Return of the Jedi.

Pretty cool, if it's true. I'm always looking for new and interesting ways to hurt myself.

I'm just curious as all hovercraft I've seen have a vertical blade for forward propulsion and the steering is by vertical fins behind the vertical blade. Having written that I have just written my entire knowledge of hovercraft. There may be a way of powering it forward and steering that I haven't a clue about. The design sort of strikes me as being similar to Leonardo's tank. Or this with horizontal wheels.

Is that bong smoke. I think these guys just invented something more awesomer than a hover craft!!

Ok so I am game... I always welcome something that can up my chances as a prosthesis candidate... Somehow sitting between two large fan blades sounds like a riot... but man o man, I would hate to stop quickly and end up resting my forehead on that there spinning thingy ;)

Oh and to quote the builder...

"To fly forward a combination involving an increase in thrust and the deflection of air from the front control vanes (twisting the left handle grip) will tilt the total thrust vector forward resulting in an acceleration forwards (twist back to go backwards)"

Leave it to the crazy Australians to come up with something like this... bravo!

Hahaha, I'm visualizing a 90% fatality rate. Wonder what they're doing in the event of engine/drive shaft failure? Those are fixed-pitch rotor blades...no way to auto-rotate = certain death.

;D That being said, I'd still rock it. The 170 knot speed, 10,000ft out-of-ground hover numbers are terrifying though.

Seeing as it's going to be labeled under small craft, no license required. Just imagine all those idiots on the road now flying.

Looks cool as hell though and IMO a nice piece of industrial design.

I think it's an awesome idea, but certainly not in any way practical. I imagine it'd be possible to change direction by shifting body weight, considering how light it is, but without some way to stop or change direction quickly, I imagine it'd be dangerous as hell. That being said, I WANT ONE! Lol.

Guys, this was on the kneeslider today and the are using the rocket parachutes from ultra-lites for potential engine failure and the rider/pilot can wear one as well. This is one test flight away from working. And it isn't a hovercraft, it has an estimated altitude limit of 10,000 feet. It's a flying bike and very cool. They have to finish the gyro computer and it has counter rotating blades like any dual rotor helicopter to not need a tail rotor.
