it isn't a hovercraft, it has an estimated altitude limit of 10,000 feet. It's a flying bike and very cool.

this just went from "cool." to "HECK NO!" shoot, more than 5 feet off the ground is enough for me.

I wonder if their project started from one of them asking:
"How can we up the danger level of riding a motorcycle, maybe some rotating blades in front and back, oh and how about greatly increasing the distance between rider and ground?"

Steering appereas to be vectored thrust. There are "slats" below the rotors to direct the air. 10,000 feet up on that. Yikes.

Theorectically can go higher but you would need O2 or you would pass out from lack of air. I would try it with a backup shoot on!

Wonder what they're doing in the event of engine/drive shaft failure?

It utilises a BMW boxer engine. No such thing.

On the concept of one, I'd love to try it. The thing is I would really want to be wearing a parachute, and a ballistic (instantly deploying) one at that. The same goes for the light plane I'm seriously considering building:
