The little Ducati Featherweight

Never thought i'd hear it....moaning at how easy and quick a motor swap was ::) ;D

Made for it.

Haha after what I went through on my other motor swap build I was ready for a fight. I think I can have the metal work done today, then I'm just waiting on parts from Australia and the UK. Exhaust, 12v conversion, cdi, coils, and carb from amazon. I think a realistic goal is to have it completely done, including fresh powder on the frame and fresh paint on the tank in a month or less. If I wasn't waiting for parts I'd say a week. Damn, that means I have to wait a month to ride it!

Oh and something else kinda funny, with a slight shave a cb175 exhaust header fit, lol.

Exhibit A

You've stumbled upon something...expect to see more of these swaps in future! :D

It's gonna look cracking.

A bit freaky for sure.
And an anti climax, I was looking forward to some open frame surgery.

Me too! I guess the bright side is for anyone who wants to do something different, this is a very easy motor swap!

Alright wiseco called me back, great customer service! They will make me the piston of my dreams, if I want 12 of them, lol! Anyone want a high compression ducati 160 piston? $200 each if they don't get coated in anything. They will do them in 62mm, so +1 overbore, and the whole thing will take 12 weeks. Wiseco also needs a bunch of measurements, and someone to send their head in. If someone wants to take care of that part, they can have a free piston.

Since I need motivation to work on mine, I"m happy to send my 160 head in. Want to PM me the details?

I will forward you all the measurements wiseco needs too. I'd do it myself but I can't guarantee when I'd have time. Now we need 10 more people haha.

Needs to be sanded to the exact shape but you get the idea.

If you are serious about pistons, it might be a good idea to pop the head off and see if a better crown shape is possible. Maybe go even larger and change the squish band for example and try to keep the crown as low as possible to optimize the compression/combustion balance. You need a high crown to get high compression and a low crown to get faster flame propagation for better power and somewhere in there is a balance that works best overall.

100% serious. This little guy will never do what I want it to without it. And if I really get adventurous a cam would be thereafter.

In the spirit of lightweightedness (is that even a word?) 3 inch led headlight coming up. And if the doesn't tickle my fancy, I have a whole mess of these and will do something outside the box!

Header and exhaust nut got here. Im noticing there may be a problem getting air/fuel in and gas out, the ports are tiny! Like half what i would expect. The exhaust diameter is only 35mm.

Quick photos. First real problem in the last one. No place for the carb, may need someone to make me a side draft manifold and face the carb out. I dont do aluminum. Any takers?
