Hello, I just bought a ACE 125 and the fuel tank is made of fiber, but I've seen in the ooracing store a tank made of steel, this is correct? did the tanks have changed over the years of production or are all made of fiber?

Hi AZD,

What country are you in? They do seem to vary the bikes a bit by region, or perhaps it is how all new bikes will be.

Hi 2b,

I´m from Spain, my bike is the number 444 made in 2014. Any of you have installed a clubman or ace handlebar? I´d like to see some pics of this handlebars on an Ace.

I've got the clubman bars on mine.

Thought I would check with the factory, they emailed me to say...

"It's impossible to have a fiberglass tank for ACE. All our ACE tank is made from steel, except for the first tank sample(Rapid prototyping, but in ABS material, not fiberglass)."

 :-\

maybe its a chinese copy of a real ACE... :p

Hi Orribe, the seat in brown leather with ribs in will look really good if you can get it as tight as std one. Whilst you have been doing your seat, I've been tidying up the switch's to de-clutter the clip ons. I bought a pattern Honda MB50 L/H switch and had to re wire to the Ace's loom- more work than first thought, 11 or 12 wires to solder. also had to replace throttle rotor. Now done away with starter button and kill switch. What do you think of finished look?

Hey guys .. I wonder what fuel u guys use? And whats the fuel consumption? I use RON98 and get 180km when it hit reserved.

I use 98. Dunno on the mileage, bit it would be more than that. Depends on lots if things, jet sizes, how hard you ride it, weight etc. seems a little low.

the switch gear looks great and love the speedo tad. not sure on loosing the kill switch. you can get a simple kill switch from most bike shops that earth to the bars , a motor in a runaway only happens to you once. but not fun. I have to add a deadman switch for on the salt next year with a wrist band as well as a steering damper.

I am looking to replace my air filter with one from OORacing:-
http://www.ooracing.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=3719

What modifications do I need to make so that this will fit? Can I keep the original battery in the same place?

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne, I have fitted a Shengwey carb to my Ace along with replacing the Std foam in the airbox with a piece of MALOSSI foam cut to the same shape as Std that I had for another bike. This has let it breath more freely. What I have also done to tidy the look is to cut off the tool box from the bottom of the airbox so that when the panel is on you can't see it. This can be done without removing the air box, you just need a hacksaw blade without the handle. This allows you to keep battery in same place if your not fussed about moving it. Tad.

Thanks Tad. Would you recommend just replacing the standard foam over fitting a replacement filter assembly. I was not looking to replace the carb at this stage. I have re-jetted with 45/95 and fitted the derestricted chrome Skyteam exhaust. I am maxing out at 65mph as was looking to try and gain a little more. I currently have the standard sprockets but when I ordered my bike I also ordered the jets and exhaust and I was talked into ordering a new rear sprocket but I have not fitted that yet.

Personally I would stick with the airbox and try different foam filter. The one I have used lets a lot more light through it when held up. It doesn't seem to be strangled at top end. It's a case of trying different things and seeing what suits you. If you have a smaller rear sprocket it's worth putting it on and finding out how it runs. Then if you have a play with intake you will know if you've improved it or not. Tad.

At 65 with standard sprockets you're pulling about 8800 rpm, wouldn't expect too much more out of it. Time to put that sprocket on.

I was on the same line of thought. I did purchased a couple of cheap air filters off fleabay a few weeks ago for my daughters crf150 (foam filters).

Today I made a decision to fit the air filter... which turned out into a whole day of stripping airbox, making battery brackets, not liking having the battery sticking out where the airbox went, so I decided to do a rewire tidy up and set it up for a battery that I will go and buy at the battery shop next week to fit under the seat. :)

so most of the day was looking and contemplating what to do with the wiring.

in the end it was a simple case of a strip of alluminium 30mm x 3mm thick, about 200mm long.
all the floating electrics that hung off the airbox are now fixed to this strip of metal under the tank (there is a fair amount of room in there as it looks like the tank may have had some other design to use the space for something else...

I hope you can see my images:

I decided to finally change my rear sprocket at the weekend, my only problem was trying to raise the back wheel off of the floor. After many attempts with the wife using blocks of wood I had a flash of inspiration and used the ladder and a couple of ratchet straps.

While riding to work my speedo stop working and I am like what the hell and then I see the cable came out... Yet another place to check ;-)

Btw in case you guys don't know eBay has been hacked so change your passwords! Not quite Ace related, but I thought it was worth mentioning given the fact that most of the tuning parts for the bikes on here come from eBay;-)
