"The Speed Heap" Trying to rap it up...!!

Re: "The Speed Heap"

Thanks Justin....

Well I havent been making too much progress lately. Me and my buddies have been too much time @ the Torpedo Lounge (The other 1/2 of the shop).

But this morning I was out trying to figure out what I was going to do w/ the electronics. And after a bit I decided to try not to over think it. It's not exactly "ground breaking", but I like it. Super simple. Just modified/sectioned the stock battery basket to fit the new compact sealed cell bat. And this way the rectifier and regulator still keep there stock locations. Should make it stupid easy to rewire. Hope to have it running this weekend. I have to out of town for work tomorrow. Otherwise I think it would fire tonight..... Oh, I'm going to make a little aluminum slip cover w/ some speed holes etc. to clean it up. After paint of course.

Torpedo lounge... After remodel hahaha

And my roomate was doing laundry so he was using the 220 for the dryer. So I had to use my old "beginer" 110 welder to tack it up instead of the Miller...Which I will use to complete it.

Crap!

Dude!!! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has to steal 220 outlets! My dad is a washer dryer fiddler, and he ALWAYS has the outlet jacked where I can't use it. I think he's trying to tell me to hurry up and finish building my own shop at my place.

I know it's been said, but damn, that tach mount is sex warmed over. I would fu$k it.

Re: "The Speed Heap"

you guys realize its not okay to talk about screwing tach mounts, right?

I like it here but I'm getting nervous. It is February though, so anything goes I guess.

The other thing is, if you have an hour and two poles in your breaker panel you can have your very own 220!!

Louie, you mentioned a roommate so you could be in a rental situation which might complicate things. But, I once rewired a 3 unit apartment building I lived in so the asshole on the first floor paid most of the electric bill. He was a total dick.

Ya I know... I'm just too lazy. There is no breaker panel in my shop. It's detached. So I would be looking @ stringing wire from the house out to the shop. Which was originally a horse stall, then converted to a garage for a model A. And yes I rent. Thanks for the advice though. I dont plan on being here for more than my lease and it's only 6 months.

And in feb. I'd F%^ck about anything..... haha

Good night fella's

Re: "The Speed Heap"

Here is a quick video I made this morning. Just got the wiring harness together. The Audio and video quality suck though. I took this w/ a regular digital camera. The mic on the camera didnt do so well with the decibel level.

Any way here it is:

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Awesome Louie! I hit play on the video and turned up the volume to hear you talk - wasn't expecting the motor to be that loud though!

Duh!

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Louie,

You're returning the kick start by hand. Is the spring missing, not working?

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Yeah I noticed your return spring wasn't working either. Sounds good though and we don't mind the mess a bit. Just keep cranking em out.

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Thanks guys...

As far as the kick spring goes, I'm not to sure whats going on yet? I have to pull the cover and have a look. It was there when I disassembled the motor? haha...

So now that it runs is it ridable or do you have more to finish?

I still have a shit ton to do...

I have to:

1) fix the kicker
2)get a chain and rear sprocket
3) wire head and tail light
4)figure out where I'm gonna put the tail light
5) fork seals
6) finish the electronics/battery tray
7)build a catch can
8)seat pad
9)make linkage for the rearsets
10)front break cable
11)tear it completely apart and repaint frame when I done swinging wrenches around it....
12) sell it!

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Hey Louie, I don't know if you saw it in my thread but I used one of those foam hunting seats - they come in a few colors, comfortable to sit on (at least in the woods), cheap now that the season is over, and you can get them just about anywhere (Walmart, Kmart, etc).

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video

Is there pics of it in your thread? I have to go check those out

Thanks, Louie

Re: "The Speed Heap" w/ video
