nice job on the gaskets ;) you know when I first got my stinger running i rode every nite to the river and back couldn't get enough ;D now now have to move 10 bikes to get to it :(

I mentioned he has 2 cranks are 'gone' though and parts seem to be even more expensive in Britain than they are in Oz? (maybe perception?)

pj, I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. Does your brother have a stinger?
 
Two, one was my sisters and he bought another for spares
He's real busy so doesn't get time to work on bikes (on call manager or director or something, I keep forgetting exactly what ;D )

Painting my rims black to save money, as much of the chrome was done for. The satin finish was accidental. When I laid down the first light clear coat it came up satin. I liked it so just kept putting on only light coats. Got some spokes too. I'm amazed these OEM ones are still easily obtainable and about on par price wise with ones from Thailand ebay.


 
Stripped off as much of the old frame paint as I could. Then hit it with some hydrochloric acid, followed by oven cleaner to neutralise the acid and clean out any greasy bits trapped in corners. Then lots of water to rinse, and a scrub with some some synthetic steel wool to clean off the flash rust. Look how clean that metal is!

You will have some running in to do when it's all back together, should prevent you getting a speeding ticket too soon ;)
Long long time ago, my sister got pulled over with me on the back of bike (didn't trust my riding ::) ) doing 75mph in a 30, luckily she knew cop (not sure if she 'knew' him as well? :eek: )
 
Threw a spare NSR front rim on the rear so I can wheel this thing around. Haven't got around to truing the re-spoked rim yet. I may try find a friendly local to do it on the cheap. Though it could be worthwile building myself a truing stand, and doing it myself. I have access to DTI's. I'm also not able to start it, as I stripped a thread on the oil pump when I overtightened the banjo bolt :(.

 
I use the molasses a lot. I used in the barrels of my stinger and they came up a treat. The guy other the my dad that taught me a lot about bikes use to use it on whole bike frames in a 44 gallon drum and there were bikes that from 1910 onwards.

In short it's a great way to de rust steel parts

Pretty much how I remember them though ;)
