Well I'm finally able to lock this box up!
Last weekend I fabricated from scratch (for my first time I might add) a door frame and a 4' wide door. And with a little trial and error fitting the door, everything works perfectly
This is the door in process. It's a mix of 1x8's and 1x6's with a Z frame on the back. I used the mix of widths to get me at 48" initially. That way I only had to trim a little off each side to make it into the frame. I only have one 36" bar clamp/spreader, so I left the 2x4 framing long and used blocks to push the boards together when I ran out of clamping ability.
Here it is (finally) hung and swinging with no interference.
And locked up.
The garage door sliding latch works like a charm as a deadbolt. I just need to fab up a metal striker plate for added strength.
Next weekend will see the trim finished up, and then some paint. I also decided to paint the floor with a deck paint/sealer to help keep stray fluids from soaking in easily.
And the obligatory pic of the Supervisor...
I think I overheard him say something like "I'm liking my new Doghouse..."

Believe it or not, that started out as "luck of the draw". I was laying them out for sizing when I noticed it. And decided to leave it. It's my "No Tresspassing Dillhole" evil eyes. lolRich Ard said:

It rained off and on most of yesterday, but I got a bunch of "loose ends" tied up today. Door trim, window trim, and corner trim (on the front side) all tidy'd up. I ran out of 8' boards to do the rear corners.
And I got started on the filler panels for the gaps in the rafters using the scraps I had leftover. You can see how the light comes in through the spaces on the right (rear) side where the wall meets the roof, and does not on the left (front) side.
I've got a three day weekend coming up this weekend. Assuming the weather cooperates, the remainder of the filler panels and corner trim will go up, and the floor will get painted/sealed. Shortly after that the exterior will see some paint, and then the wife won't have to look at the bikes in the house anymore

The sun was shining directly on the door and lit up the gaps like crazy. They're not actually as wide as it seems, but they'll get filled before paint anyway.

What was most bizarre about finishing up yesterdays tasks was... I was standing in the middle of the shop thinking "Holy Crap! I think I'm done!" With the major construction anyway It was really an odd feeling

Chris, that's gonna be one hell of a place you've built there my friend. It does my heart very good to see a man build his place to build his bikes. There's a kind of poetry about that. I think that it digs your roots down deeper than they were before hand. I'm proud of you brother.
I am not proud of Scott and his hammer allergy however.

Thanks guys and gal, I appreciate the kind words.
Realistically I did 85-90% of it solo. I had help framing the walls/roof and mounting the Hardie board, but everything else has my sweat only on it. I had some setbacks and fuck ups, but those were mostly me as well But, it is an awesome feeling knowing I did this.
Of course it's not finished by any means! It needs paint, power, lights, work stations, storage, a sound system, TV, some comfy seating, a stripper pole, etc.
But looking back at where/when it started, I did have doubts there for a while that I would ever see it where it is now.
I stop and stare at it all the time now... and start giggling at the fun stuff to come

I know that feeling, everytime I look at something I have built I feel like that. Knowing you did it. Congrats on phase I completion, phases 2+ to come. We definatley have to have a big easy GTG when you get the stripper pole added. My sister used to sell the ones you can put up and take down that are spring loaded. I can maybe get you the info from her for you.
