Triton Build

Got some tires mounted on the wheels this week and slid them into the frame to see if I was close having the rim in the center. This beautiful moment did not last too long. Still need to pull the rim over to get it all centered. Not a big deal it's pretty close. Looks like a real bike with the wheels and excitement is growing to get this started and on a maiden voyage.

I have front and rear polished alloy fenders. I am considering leaving the rear off and using a very small LED tail light under the very back of the seat. If I do this I was going to use a scrap fender to cover the area where the motor is exposed by the rear wheel. I would powercoat it back as well as the front fender. Question is what do you guy's like, the no rear fender look on this bike or the traditional bobbed Triton with the Lucas style rear light?

It needs fenders for sure. Wow, those footpegs are really high. I usually aim for centerline of the swingarm or slightly lower.
 
Sorry Swan, kind of forgot about this.

I took the bike for a ride last Thursday. First 2 mile trip on the open road. It's not done but very, very close. The bike felt great and on the way back I was settling in and getting used to the shifts and the little stuff. I heard the motor change pitch while on the gas. I pulled in the clutch as the oil pressure light came on. As I came to a stop I checked out a few things and the bike didn't feel like it was going to start. About a 1/2 mile push back to the garage reminded me all the character building a British bike gives you. I wasn't mad or frustrated and I know the issue is small. My guess is electrical. The way it cut out when on the throttle suggested ignition. It has a Boyer. The motor did restart with a bit of a misfire. Truly on of the last gremlins hanging on..

I will get some photos up soon and a more complete back story on the build.
 
nice ….looking at the oil tank lid in the open position has me thinking, wondering if there is room for a extra catch tank (with quick opening lid) for long rides so us older guys would not have to stop as much, ha ha

Getting the bike closer and closer. The speedo needs to still be rebuilt and the tail light is not right and will be reworked, The rest is pretty much done! Some small weeping from the push rod tubes but that is a fight on all classic Triumph motors. Anyway, I will get more detail on here soon. Starts, runs, stops. What more could you ask for?

I think the best part other than flying down the road is having the ability to sell a couple of bikes and know this one is running. I would like to feel like I have some money again!
