Triton

.... It's surprising what you can make with just a hammer, vice, welder, grinder, drill and a file.

Should have a few decent updates to post soon, just waiting for a new ignition system to arrive. I put my original kit away so safe, I can't find it anywhere and had to order a new one from Interspan. Sodds law it will turn up after the new one (£600 bah) lands.

Got a ZX6R race bike in my barn at the minute though. Just fitted a couple of sets of new fairings and am painting those ready for this years Manx, so still busy doing stuff. It will stay at mine and be prepped here, so it's interesting having a modern bike to work on.

Bike belongs to a local privateer, lovely bloke and his wife taught my son in primary school. It was that connection that lead to my dad going over to the Manx to help them two years ago and then me, my son and my dad going over last year to do the same. Good times, the three of us together doing this and it's time we all cherish.

Lol, £600 for something I can't find is a real headache!

nah - think positive - that's the starter kit for another bike !

Just need clutch and ignition fitting, then I'm ready to start it up. These headers are mk2 and are more of an equal length, so I'm happier with these.

That's precisely the style of Hi-Level exhaust I'm after for my KZ Flat Tracker - assuming I get that far ::)

Beachie, let me know if you do as I've got a spare alloy heat shield that I'll donate to your Tracker. I made a pair as I couldn't decide whether to have loads of holes drilled in it, or just a few larger holes. You'd be getting the holy one!

Truly grateful .................. I DO like it here.

I spend a lot of time hunting for things I've lost too Mark! Though Interspan batteries seem to last forever so when you do finally find it ....it'll still be ok! Bike looking great btw!

Cheers Rob. I'm just waiting on that ignition thing now, but I found some neat harness or cable ties from an auto jumble a while back. Loads neater than tie wraps

I picked up a handful of similar ones that had been punched out of truck inner tubes, but you could cut them out really. These came from a Lucas stand and I've never seen them before.

Plus, I roughly cut out out a sheet of 10mm foam insulation thats adhesive on one side and stuck it on the underside of my tank where it rests on the frame. Just used a sharp blade to trim excess off when it was in place.

I bought a load and put them in a drawer, but cheers for the contact. I like bits of stuff like that.

Standard issue on most 50's / 60's bikes from the factory ............ they had a habit [ old ones ] of cracking and congealing to the wire / frame !

You'd hope the rubber industry has improved a bit since back then. I bought another bunch from somewhere else that had been punched out of lorry innertubes, so it'll be good to see how they fair. I just couldn't put plastic tie wraps on it.

Finally my ignition unit arrived, actually after I physically collected it, so I had to make a mounting for it. I made a cardboard template to house the Interspan unit and transferred the sizes onto 2mm plate, trimming and folding it (harder with steel). Painted it with etch and then with 2k black and I'm about done now. So, the bikes now running and this is leading up to that clip.

Anyway, it's a total loss 20 volt type system, that will run the bike for 8 hours continual use, so is more than adequate for what I will ever demand from the bike. I doubt I'd want to ride this for more than 2 hours, so being practical it's a good solution.
