Victoria! Zeke's CB175 Build

This is the reason we bought H rated tires. NSU and Pops Yoshimura both fiddled with SOHC engines to match or beat the DOHC. "This fact was not lost in the racing department, who fiddled with a Max engine until it produced nearly the same power as the DOHC twin: 30 hp at over 9000 rpm." Maybe one day the press copy will be able to say that the DTT Racing Department fiddled even more :) http://www.classicsportbikesforsale.com/1955-nsu-sportmax/

Tomorrow the NSU Sportmax Fairing is being delivered and Zeke is like a kid at Christmas in July. Thank you Airtech! Thank you Dutch!

Another question. When I compare the clutch baskets of the cl175 vs the cb175 there is a difference. The cl has a shoulder that compresses the assembly more than the cb. At first I thought it was a grinding error and was going to file it smooth but then it looked like it was intentional. What do you think?

Was thinking maybe we could use the starter housing as a catch can? Pulled the internals and everything is sealed by orings...just have to remove the starter terminal and install a nipple? Then any oil would go back into the crank case

If you're going to do that could you replace the starter body with a bit of Ali? Or cut it shorter and re thread the bolts I thought it would make a good spot for a cylindrical oilcooler or proper oil filter

i was just thinking that it would be an easy mod in lieu of the block off plug and save cash and utilize the old "use what you have mentality" and it would be fun to watch when others try to figure out what we did. :) after seeing Cappelini's art oil cooler...oh those Italians. I think the housing is aluminum all we need to do is remove the magnets. Then all the oil ring grooves are there or we could just braze it up. It could also be used to put a pcv valve on it for more crankcase venting.

5 clutch plates and 5 pressure plates or 6 for all out top speed? I am assuming the clutch pressure plate is flipped around for one over the other to fit 6 discs?

i am pretty sure you want the clutch to not slip
how many you have or how much they or the clutch weighs wont effect top speed

something you should know about the aluminum plates the more you use the clutch that is slippin it to take off or just slippin it , the dirtier your oil will appear i mean a lot filthier looking than with steel plates, grayish, blackish metal flaky crap
i dont think its an issue tho but it could be alarming for you to first see that

thank you I read a couple of posts where some guys freaked out when they checked their oil after installing aluminum plates.

I torqued the oil pump 6mm bolts to 8ftlbs and they have lock tabs. No torque spec for these bolts.

Off the top if my head 6-8 ftlbs for M6 in the factory manual

Looks great!! The 200 oil pump and filter is a straight bolt on? No drilling/tapping?

I also ran into that. Couldn't find a spec when my 175 motor was going
Back together. I think we actually put it up to about 13 ft-lb... :/
