Help ................ can anyone point me in the right direction for aftermarket cams and pistons for the XV1100 ?

Been on the Megacycle site, but there doesn't appear to be any price listings.

Also, what sort of price do you pay for gasket sets, bearings, piston rings in the US / Canada ?

Thanx

Yup, there are some pretty interesting options for the Vstar/XVS1100 that will work swimmingly in our lumps.

Thanx for the headsup Lee - some good looking stuff there !

Amazing what a bit of sunshine can do !! ;D

Spent the day rubbing down and prepping my Kay Fighter wheels and the TR1 fork bottoms. Decided against powder coating - purely on cost basis. I do think paint is a better finish - if not as durable. That's my excuse.

Got them to a good standard of prep and shot them in etch primer and then normal primer / surfacer.

Cost for the lot - 2 rattle cans and a bit of wet and dry, £8.00. A bit better than £80 for the pc !!.

Oh, and of course then there's the top coat - Gold for the wheels [ £10.00 ] and satin black [ £5.00 ] for the fork bottoms. I had toyed with the same FO Red I am using for the tank, seat etc. - but decided against it [ for now anyway !! ] Anyway - top coat tomorrow.

Satin Black it is then .............. first 2 coats.

Flat off with 600 and then final coats.

If the weather stays good today, it's on to the Grimeca brake plates for the Gold treatment. The XS650 rear brake plate needs rubbing down where the paint reacted - then Gold again !

Progress is always good. They should dissappear and let the Gold of the hub be center stage.

Cheers,

Maritime

Your wish etc .............................

Don't want you all getting envious of my spray shop BTW !! ;D ;D

Thanx guys.

Yes, I tried 5 other Gold rattlecans from different manufacturers - none were quite right. I had an image in my memory banks that I wanted to replicate - hey bingo.

Well to be truthful, Mrs B. wanted a mirror frame painted Gold and I was being a bit tardy doing the job. SHE went out and bought this particular rattlecan to do the mirror, I spotted it and guess what - the mirror frame still isn't painted.

However I did order a bulk buy of the cans at super cheap price [ good old e-bay ] to complete all my "Goldness" for various projects.

Remember some time ago I rabitted on about a US product of old - "Trumag", well this finish / colour is as close as my fading memory banks remember.

John83 - yes Black / Gold, FO Red / Gold works well. The engine will be wrinkle [ textured [ finish Black - then given a coat of Satin Black with Gold highlighted covers.

Rich ........ "ain't no stopping me now" ... ;)

Mirror frame next on the list .... ::)

Top yoke prepped and painted Satin Black - yep decision made - frame, swing arm, fork bottoms [ also finished ] also going to be Satin Black.

Just looking for that "right" Red now !

Manfred,
No, not a race, just made a promise that my bike would belch noise by the end of June...
I used "Dragon Red" on my XV - both gelcoat and paint. Don't know if the vendors have an international colour code for it or not.
