VINTAGE LEATHER JACKETS:

Well, all very interesting but not much of a discussion of vintage leather jackets. As for ebay, you guys need to understand the perspective of the seller. For example, (I am no fan of ebay) if I paid 300 for a leather jacket (which I have one up right now) and there are no bids by the last 24 hours I will general remove the item for sale. Why...because I cannot afford to give away items for less then I paid for them. Secondly, if I list it for 300 dollars, ebay charges so much in fees that I would be out of business in a month paying all the money to feebay. So you see the problem lies in the system...if you really like an item and you dont want the seller to close it, you either have to make them an offer, or bid the item high enough to keep the sellers interest, auctions are not the place to find deals, if you want those you have to get off your arse and go to garage sales, do the foot work and find your own deals. That is just reality...if you dont like reality, well there is little for that outside of hallocinagens

Can't you just set a reserve to avoid that issue? Or do buy-it-now with a best offer option?
sell on fee bay reserve is full price for the amount...buyitnow same deal, when you add it up it kills ...adds to 30 percent of gross by the end of the month

$70 for a leather jacket is pretty cheap. You want one with armor etc. for less?

For a used jacket in fair condition (worn spots/sleeves; torn pockets) no. Here's the jacket:

I sold two "traditional" styled biker jackets for around $50 a piece and they were in better condition. I also bought my brown AMC HD jacket for around 40 and it's in about the same condition as the above jacket.

It's about what's popular, bottom line. With this whole 70's-80's style resurgence, you'll have more interest in that type of jacket vs. say a sheepskin bomber. I wish the hipsters would move on to LA Kings/Raiders jackets and leave the functional gear to the riders.

That's my .02.

ah, we were bidding on different jackets the whole time anyways. Not that it matters .. But I do agree, that jacket.. 70 is the high end imo, its in pretty rough shape..

just bought my second jacket! Told you I was addicted!

Dont know anything about this brand or what era the jacket is from, but for 29.99, who gives a fuck? Oh, and who said you no longer can find deals and steals on ebay?

I have two sets of trousers and have had a couple jackets. One was too big (44) and one was too small (36). This one is a 42, so it should fit just right.

Are those new Belstaff or vintage Belstaff...It does look very cool...very rugged.....I have some ideas for a leather and canvass and sheepskin jacket down the pipe!

I haven't got it yet, but it's 70's era Belstaff. It's missing the belt though...which is a huge drag. The belt really ties it all together. I bought a Barbour A7 belt...but they only come in black. You wouldn't happen to have a spare belt kickin around would ya?

How 'bout this one: Tags at neck read "Made in England"; "100% Leather"; some sizing stuff (I think)
reverse side of tail and collar is vinyl (now cracked and crazed)
bits around front pocket zippers are black painted leather that was originally Kawasaki green (I think)
What's left of liner is a red satin
Quilted elbow and shoulder padding
zippers are YKK; I replaced the big one with brass
mural on back is Mother Goddess Kali
I found the jacket at Rose City Motorcycles(now an f..in' Cycle Gear) in Portland Oregon. Tried it on, zipped it up, and the zipper stuck. Like I couldn't get the jacket off. Guess I'll have to buy it....Good thing it was only $25

thats gorgeous where did you get it?

Ebay UK. Pretty much the only place to consistently find them a so-so prices. Shipping is a bit crushing though.

I love old jackets with murals. Murals in general. Truly one-of-a-kind. It's a different kind of appeal than vintage Lewis Leathers...but there's definitely something there.

just thought i would add my Brimaco jacket to the page. saw this one on ebay about five years ago. missed the bid. i email the high bidder, (the guy who won it), and told him if it didnt fit to let me know. and you can probably finish the rest of the story...it didnt fit.

Damn-that's AWESOME! 8)
After this year's SXSW, I'm changing my mind on my jacket style. Every goddamned hipster had the black leather cafe style jacket (in 80+ degree weather), with the short collar and elbow pads. I guess that keeps you from skinning your arms while riding your fixxie or doing rails off your coffee table! :-\

Pretty soon, we'll all look like we stepped off the set of Dune

Sting was the coolest Mod in Quadrophrenia. Coincidence? I think not!

Damn fixxie hipster, girl pant wearing bullet belt having no brakes technical darwinism......GUHHHHH!!

p.s. Your leather jacket is leaking. Is it "The Great Rock n Roll Swindle" that Sting shows up in a fluffy pink sweater? Ouch!!!
