I'm an archaeologist. I teach anthropology and archaeology at a large state University and do field work mostly in Kansas and Nebraska. I'll be finishing my PhD in about a month and hoping to find a slightly more permanent position to use as a base for my research.
Like so many others, this is a job that sounds more exciting than it is. But it does let me spend a lot of time outside working with my hands and balance that with time reading and studying social theory. For that balance, the crappy pay and working hours are almost worth it.
