What size tires should I buy for my '73 CB350?

Tristan

Been Around the Block
I've searched the board multiple times and the only suggested size I could find was from Dr J....and I know many more people own this bike.

SO what size do you guys suggest? I'd like to get a little beefier then stock, and would prefer the front to be pretty similar to the rear.

Mysta2?

Motofiaccone???

Troybilt?

Are you looking for Cb360 tire size or CB350 tire size? I can provide the CB350 sizing.

Mysta2 use a custom rim and re-spoked it to his needed. His 120 width (I think) rear tire won't work on a stock rim.

I've run 110 front, 120 rear Bridgestone Spitfires for the past 3 seasons. Looks cool but I believe it slows it down. So this season I'm going down one size to 100 front and 110 rear Avon Roadriders, one size up from stock.

Ok so, 110 and 120 are the height right?? How about the width? 70, 80, 90?

Hows 100/90/18 Front
110/90/18 Rear?

or
110/90/18 Front
120/90/18 Rear These are my 18" selections from Shinko

And is there any difference between front and rear tires??

Like, could I use two front tires?

You have it backwards - 110 and 120 are the widths. The next number is the ratio of the width. So a 100/90-18 tire is about 4 inches wide and 90 percent of that is 3.6 inches tall (low profile tire). The last # is the rim diameter

And yes, you can run two front tires, just check for directional arrows

ahhh...OK. Because your PM asked about a 360, not a 350. Kit's loudbike is a 360 as well.

I agree with DrJ. Like I told you in the PM, I just went up one size. I also use the roadriders like DrJ recommended.

I use 100/90/18 front and 110/90/18 rear tires on my CB400f's. Dunlop D404 are very good tires, cheap and come in 18" sizes.

I was told not to run a front tire on the rear due to different construction. Rear tires are designed for applied torque so they resist those forces while fronts just roll. But it is okay to run a rear on the front. Some tires like the Avon Roadriders are designed for either front or rear but have directional arrows. Any traditional spoked wheel uses an inner tube. You can use a tube inside a tire designed for tubeless wheels.

Avon fronts(race compound) stick like glue on the rear,,,and then all these small cracks develope in the grooves ::) but I'm still using it(darwin award nominee),,twins can use 90\90fr 100\80 rear..if you can find them...350f-cb 400f should use a slightly larger tyre as the weigh more.

you just run it with arrow pointing 'wrong' direction, brake torque is about same as driving torque (you can only put so much power down before wheelspin/wheelie)
Avon have done it for years with Roadrunner tyres, one arrow for rear fitment and another for front

uuummmmmm ...quote"why is your tread pattern the wrong way"............reply"I was looking at the arrow".....and he still FLOGGED at racing speeds(dry conditions),,,,,,we don't need no stinking arrows!!!( almost quote from a bogey flick ;D)
