I'll list them in order;
1) Hard tail chopper mini-bike w/ a 5hp tecumseh. Bought it at a garage sale for $35!
2) First real motorcycle I rode was my best friends Hodaka 100cc Super rat.
3) First of my own was a mid-late 60's (unsure of year) Ossa 250 street/trail. My oldest brother needed $$$ for college. Boy did he see me coming! The few times I actually got it to run were great. Unloaded it after a year of learning how to get a 2 stroke running! I recouped $50 in the sale, as well as unmeasurable amounts knowledge.
4) First street bike was a '74 Yamaha TX500. Bought it from my brother in law, who bought it new, for the price of a washing machine.
5) First NEW bike (and only new bike) I ever bought was a '82 Suzuki GS550MZ Katana. Bought it new, still in the crate in Feb of '84 for $1699 out the door! Rode this bike in Georgia, Germany and upstate New York.
6) Mid life bike is my '76 XS650C. Brought it back from the dead, rode it for 3 years, now turning it into a cafe. Thinking about trying a school, some track days and AHRMA racing in the next year or two with it. I did say Mid-life didn't I? ;D
7) Picked up a great '80 XS850SG 2 years ago as a better daily rider and for those longer rides. I just can't see spending $10K or more for new when there are all of these great bikes out there for realtively little $.
My goal now is to find a good XS11 standard, and then a SR500. Then I'd have the complete Yamaha set- single, a twin, a triple and a four cylinder! If I keep sneeking them in every 2-3 years the wife will never know
