For realz this time. The one that got away–saw an Indian Arrow at a swap meet but was too late. Bike was sold and loaded onto a truck. Such a cool little single, waiting for the next chance I get to restore and ride one.

I've got a few ideal builds. I think a nice big air-cooled nat-asp V-twin would be good in a decent frame, something like an S&S 120. A high-strung two-stroke screamer would be good, too... but that'd be more of a GP rep than a cafe racer.

So I think I'd have to call it at this:

Thats an Aussie special made by Drysdale Motors co - an ingenious bloke who's engineered some brilliant things in his time. Google 'Carberry Enfield' for another example. This one mates two FZR400 topends via a special crankcase setup to give a 750cc V8 engine that'll give more than 160hp and 17,000rpm. Plus, it looks beautiful... to my eyes at least.

Heres a better look at the tank and exhaust tract;

That is a work of art!!

Porc's are almost common ( I think all 5 are still around), Manx or G50 can be bought new today, so they are just race bikes. If you want rare and desirable, try Guzzi V8 or top of my list Britten V twin. The sexiest bike ever designed and built and to think I turned down a ride on that beast.

Egli Vincent is pretty too. For a semi-modern custom for the man who has everything, maybe a GS1000 Wes Cooley homage with moderd suspension wheels etc. If he's a Honda man, build a Freddie rep with modern accoutrements.

I'd almost suggest a custom chassis around an HD motor, but that motor is too tall to package nicely. Start with a Harley, and replace everything except the VIN and build something radical like the Helion perhaps.

US an air cooled motor if possible for more character and make the motor the centerpiece. Get Sean at ROC city to make a custom tank specially for that new frame and showcase your imagination.

We're going to have to hear more about that.

Google "Britten v1000" would be at the top of my list too if this wasn't a vintage list, along with an RC30... which I currently am building. Among the vintage though, I'd stick with the TZ350.

If I ever came across a rediculous pile of money, and suddenly had the ability to machine entire motors, I would certainly build a spot on replica of the RC166. only difference would be the use of modern materials. All carbon fibre body pieces, lots of space age alloys in the motor, etc...

sad but a Norton 850. not all that uncommon or expensive i just love Nortons. build wise id say a Norvin. featherbed frame with a rapide twin.

Mmmmmm Britten V1000... Most beutifull exhaust system ever made. I still have a copy of Cycle World magazine with this on the cover.

Although the original indian variant is nice, im afraid I must go with the new take on a rare gem... the alma four. And then cafe it!
