Oh to be 17 again - welcome to the UK bunch

I am from South Yorks, just Norf of Sheffield. I am currently on with a '77 Z650. (amongst other bikes)

It's neither standard nor cafe really at present.... in fact I am still not sure quite where it's gonna go yet - but it is going somewhere ;D

Welcome along Charlie,

you're bound to find a thread here that will cover whatever you decide to do with your bike !

The important thing is to post pix and build details and give other folk ideas / inspiration.

Yeah thanks BC.

I really like the look of the Z650 as is, It already owes me more than a small fortune as it has fresh candy red paintwork, a shorter front chrome mudguard, I've removed the rear mudguard and tidied up the rear light area using an Aprilia rear light, fitted a Giuliari seat, V&H 4-1 and and added some rebuilt and powder coated Marzocchi Strada's so I am not unhappy with what I have so far. Electrics and Ignition have also been upgraded. Mechanicals are spot on but I have the top off at the moment anyway for more polishing and checking.

I am thinking I may head down the route of fitting 17" wheels front and rear so I can get some decent (and fatter) rubber fitted. I am on the lookout for something like a ZR750 (or maybe a ZR550 at a push) to be a donor bike so I can use the front and rear ends complete. The advantage of a 750 would be the motor would also drop straight into my frame....not that there is anything wrong with the 650 lump I have now mind. I am also torn whether to go the Rickman fairing route as I did on my last 650 ....decisions, decisions eh ?

I am in no rush - that will happen when/if it happens.

It may even be a next winters project yet as I have work to do on the bike anyway, plus I have a '75 H1F and an '05 ZX10R in the garage that are both crying and feeling left out cos I am neglecting them somewhat ;D

I signed on here for some fresh idea's. I know a few guys from KZ650.info etc on here already. I also run a couple of my own forums too, but you can never have too wide a net ;)

zzr600 front end drops in the z650 frame very nicely, cb400 superfour (w/c 400) swing arm (like pic) can be fitted at the rear quite easy (see z650 frame pic) green z650 is how it looks now running gpz1100 motor
