thats very nice kajtek, i plan on making a pilgrimage to ace once my cafes finished (hopefully summer)

thanks, bikes not running great at the moment, the cheap muffler i fitted has made it run lean so either gonna try diff jets or make the muffler more restricitive!

pm me when you head down to ace this summer and ill come meet you... have at look at the calender as some days you can get there n its a bunch of kids showing of vauxhall astras. they seem to have a rockers night once a month, gonna check it out this month to see what its like..

Thanks thats would be great, Iv proberly only got a few weeks serious work in it left completing the bike but you know what things are like, specially getting things MOT'd. Yeah I really dont fancy heading all that way to see that sort of thig ;)

it is indeed a pain with mot's, although ive got away with a lot by taking it to a place with enthusiasts, guys that ride old bikes etc that work there.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Found a Royal Enfield dealer that do MOTS for enfields and classic bikes aswell. I always wondered tho if they has less business they would have time nit pick or like you say got a real interest and more time for you. The MOT list is so vague, i found a copy online.. no mention of mudguards

I used to be an MOT tester.
It's very specific in most area's
I can't remember if mudguards are specifically mentioned, but, moving parts have to be adequately covered.
That includes the wheels.
You won't get away with being 'fenderless' (with the weather it isn't a good idea anyway ;D )
I know it's seen as a 'game' and a PITA getting it tested but it is safety related.
Tyres, brakes, lights, steering and exhaust (there were noise limits but they were somewhat discretionary when I was doing MOT's
If I thought it was too loud, it was too loud, if I thought it was OK, it was OK ;) (open pipes, definite no-no)

You can read the complete manual here
http://www.ukmot.com/bike_index.asp

Check out 'Basics'

MORE CHECKS

In addition to the items mentioned above the examiner will:
  • Check that the HORN is of reasonable volume and a continuous single tone
  • Check for CORROSION on the frame and any load bearing components
  • The FOOTRESTS must have an anti-slip surface
  • All major components, bodypanels and mudguards must be securely fitted
  • The footrests, handlebar levers and brake pedal must be securely mounted
EDIT
MOT doesn't specify mudguards but 'Construction and Use' does
There are specific angles of coverage but you'll have to look it up, I used to go by FIM standards ;D

Hey guys! I'm near a couple of you, up in Wirral. Wallasey to be precise...
Working on an SR250 at the moment, getting it running and returned to original spec. first, then if i can't sell, it's going to possibly get the cafe treatment! :D

Hey guys...I'm Norwich but used to live in louth and grimsby before moving this way. I do miss the roads round wragby and rasen, some great roads on the wolds.

Got to get my arse to cadwell sometime as well.

Hi

I'm on the sunny 8) (dim at the mo) Isle of Wight.

I bought a pair of 1977 honda CJ's a 250 and a 360. lost the will to project them, stuck um both on ebay, never got a sniff at £500 for both and thank god, i've started the strip down and enjoying every minute. NOTHING BEATS AND MAN IN HIS SHED WITH AN OLD BIKE AND A RADIO, well maybe a tv, bar, loo, fireside chair, etc.

some great projects here, is there anywhere else? i keep changing my mind by the day, colours, paint or polish, will have to go for it very soon.

keep the spanners knocking.

Im staying in Ruislip, so fairly local to the Ace.

Currently riding a sportster every day with two projects in the pipeline.

An XS750 that is nearly ready for its MOT, since this photo the bars have been changed for clipons, the risers ground off the top yoke the speedo has been properly mounted tucked down in front of the yoke. Need to sort out the lights and that exhaust and it is ready for a test run, might even find time to recover that seat.
