looks awesome bro. now if mine only turns out 1/2 as nice
Thanks man. Dude if what I've seen so far is any indication of the end result your bike is going to be sick. I absolutely love the brass bits you turned down.

Thanks. Will do

Got a little something done today. Tank should be ready for bonding at the first of the week then I should be able to start prepping for paint. The new filler cap arrived today.woohoo..
The filler had a flange that allowed only about 1/8" to enter the tank. I spent about 2 hrs very carefully grinding the flange off to allow more of the bung to enter the tank. Now she has about 1/4" going in and should be enough for a strong bond.

New larger filler. This is a normal size filler though it looks a bit oversized haha.

I'm stoked about how much the filler sticks up (more fuel) but the cap screws down pretty flush

The joggle joint while I've got it all snapped apart

Drilled for the fuel line. There will be a shut off under the carbs

Re: Willow...Tank Progress

It will have a one way valve
and yeah I'd love to have a little more brass on her but not sure where

Re: Willow...Tank Progress

looks great troy! you think with the bung on top like that there is goign to be enough fuel weight to push through there? dig the copper lines!

Mighty kind of ya. I really do appreciate it. I'll be thinking... ;D

Nice! Tank looks good. Are you going to isolate that copper line from the engine with some rubber line? Keep it up.

thanks man. Yeah it will go into a brass valve under the carbs then to rubber fuel lines

shouldn't be an issue. I plan to run water through it before it gets bonded just to make certain. My back up is to run an elbow there. I figure as long as the lines are below the fuel level shouldn't be a problem.
Glad your digging it. Gonna convert ya on the color soon too. Faster than a weekly hand delivered Watchtower ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just got off the phone with Jim at jim@alchemyupholstery.com. Seat is done. He is going to send pics tonight. He gave me the option to put it in the mail or he and Doug (Beatnic) can ride down this weekend from Pittsburgh to hand deliver the seat. Hell yeah! See you guys soon!! Talk about service.

Sweet bike dude, love the tank!
Thanks man much appreciated!

Re: Willow...Tank Progress

You won't have an issue with fuel weight. Simple physics man, liquid always flows from higher to lower.

Killer news on the seat. I wish I was closer. I'd ride up just for the heck of it.

Re: Willow...Tank Progress

i was more worried about the pressure needed to remain constant, while riding the bike and moving around that it would have the pressure to push though the lines and keep it going torough the filter with enough pressure to feed the carbs

Have to agree with Von and Beatnic on this one!
Jim sent me pics this am and my jaw hit the floor. The quality of the stitching, attention to detail, and the overall shape is nothing short of amazing. I think it will fit the style of the bike perfectly but I'll let you all be the judge:

See I told ya, haha

But seriously if anyone needs a seat Jim at Alchemy ( http://www.alchemyupholstery.com/index.html ) is your man. Word is he makes some kick ass Cafe seats at very reasonable prices. Give him a call and see what he can do for you. You can contact him through his web site at: http://www.alchemyupholstery.com/contact.html

I went to the mail box today and a very special friend sent me a gift. This is pictured in my elcetronics box. Dam things are tiny.

I spoke with Kiley about these capacitors but this was totally unexpected. Much man love for this brother! Thank you Kiley

Went to the hardware and searched through their lamp repair boxes and some neat little brass bolts with a smooth head and knurled edge. They kind of look like brass rivets. Also found brass knurled nuts. They will have a lock washer and be loctighted. I will probably try some ammonia to give these some patina to match the aged brass and copper and I still need to paint the stop light but this should give ya the idea.

If the weather holds it looks like I will be in the hay field the rest of the week but I hope to really bust on her next week.
