Work / Shop Aprons / Tool Rolls

Work / Shop Aprons

Learned that lesson the other day, was wearing gloves on the drill press, and reached in to clean the bit off like I do with my bare fingers all the time. BAM it grabbed and ripped the glove right off my hand, I am incredibly lucky it ripped the glove off so fast and I was just left with a very sore finger, I easily could have lost a finger/hand, especially if it were a high power/high rpm lathe.

My dad worked at a printing co and they had a machine that mixed the ink. Similar to a big drill press. He was standing there when a guy was trying to clean some ink off the shaft while it was running. Needless to say he wasn't as lucky as you. Pulled a finger off along with about 3 feet of tendons vessels and whatever else runs up your arm.

There are very few things that make me cringe, but this did the trick.

Tell me about it. I almost quit typing. Haha but thought maybe someone may see it and save a limb

Re: Work / Shop Aprons

I work at a printing company. There are a lot of machines around here that could rip/pinch a lot of things off. The thing that always strikes me as odd about the history of printing was the dress of a pressman. Back in the day, as a lot of machinery jobs were, it was prestigious job. It was common for these guys to wear a tie and tuck in their pressmans apron. Seriously though, a tie?? Wearing a readymade noose while you stand over a press with dozens of rollers, cylinders and speed. I'm glad that is no longer a thing....

Re: Work / Shop Aprons

John- let us know once you start pumping out tool rolls, I definitely want one. I'm in SLC too, so I could just ride down and pick one up.

Re: Work / Shop Aprons

Tool rolls! I can take detailed measurements of my BMW's roll (1975) if you're interested. Lots of BMW owners out there missing the original tool roll and the current aftermarket options are pricey.

Re: Work / Shop Aprons

Haha, with all the emails and posts about asking for tool rolls, I should probably get going on samples. I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have an initial sample next week and be ready to produce by the end of the month.

Thanks Bud. Follow on Instagram and you'll be the first to know. Also, I do free delivery in the SLC valley.

Tim, I've seen the BMW rolls before, I'll have to look at them again to see if this will even be comparable.

Re: Work / Shop Aprons

Just listed two of these "basic" aprons (1st version without grommets) on my website www.strongorigins.com for just $25, put DTT and your screen name in the comments of your order and I'll refund 20% of the apron cost.

Waxed canvas, black apron, green upper pockets, red stitching. Have two of them in stock and ready to ship.

What waxed canvas looks like when broken in:

Alright, here's the sample tool roll. Some small revisions will happen, but this is pretty much it. I'll list it on the website tonight. It's Olive and Brown waxed canvas with Brown straps.

I do plan to to make a cheap and simple tool roll also, just the basic single flap fold over...

I hope you won't be mad if I like it more than the apron. Nice stuff John

That's the exact roll I've been looking for. How much are you letting them go for?
