Xs750 896cc engine rebuild and chop!


Oh, and i got the wire hydraulic converter together, works good after a little tinkering.
Some minor improvements and its good to go!
 

Assembly in progress! Spent the evening cleaning Focusinprogress' gearbox out and scratching my head over the differences in middle gear drive from my older 750 parts.. :)
Finally it's coming together, with a bit of luck the crank, big bore barrels and head are finished this weekend.
 
Not much progress this weekend, cleaned the crank, got a bit dirty after the balancing.
Most of the time went into putting new exhaust on my mazda beater and changing tires on the lady's xs11.
Also had to order a new transmission seal as i wanted to use focusinprogress' newer spindle gear. Got three tranny seals for the old, spring loaded type, but hey, a few less parts in the engine is worth a lot!
 
Got the crank and bearings in the case last night for plastigaging bearing play.
All within spec and ready to be bolted up!
Gonna check rod bearings next time and assemble the crank, then all i need to put the bottom end together is the oil seal..
 

Made me a couple of footpegs at work today, modded the originals since they bolt onto the rear engine mount i wanted to keep the hinges.
 
Can't wait to see this thing in the frame!

Just put the empty pieces together to have a look at it.. some silver engine paint on the head methinks?
 
need some bronze accents ;)

maybe that dark metallic copper engine enamel on the fins, then sanded back the faces?

Was thinking about doing something to the head, other than more hours of glass blasting..

Amazon is getting me some vht products.. think the carb tops would do nicely with some color as well..
 
So amazon won't ship aerosols to sweden.. found rustoleum copper paint from a nice swedish online racing shop though! This will be cool..
 
yamaha triples are like a weird disease. You've either never owned one, or you love them and constantly obtain them. I'm on my 5th one. 3 are still in my ownership lol.
 
Which one did my gearbox parts come from by the way?
Standing here assembling it right now and kinda curious what gearing to expect.. this is from an 850 i guess?
 
Anyhoo its torqued up now :)

Took a good while, everything needs cleaning and blasting before ut goes in. This place is way too dirty to keep anything clean but for a short period of time.. gonna try to have the tranny side and cylinders on by tomorrow.
