955 is probably closer in jetting than the legend, i went from 90 mains to 140. needle one notch up then it was all good.

That's true. Especially with UNI foam filters (if they fit) and fairly open exhaust.

Well... I won that set of Sprint RS carbs for $102! So... I guess I might be working on the ol' girl sooner than I thought. Would be nice to have her road worthy in-case the weather is good enough to ride over to Portland for the 1 MOTO show next month.

After further investigation, the carbs must be from a 1996 Sprint 900, not a Sprint RS. The RS didn't come out till 99 and was fuel injected.

It looks like the only difference between the Legend 900 and the Sprint 900 is the compression ratio, and the switch from Keihin carbs to Mikuni carbs... and a whole lotta HP. We'll see how this goes!

stock 850 is around 80hp. Quite the powerhouse for its time.
So around 73 rwhp? :)
Will be interesting to see what mine pumps out, if only the damn winter would fuck off soon so i can run it in sometime..

Maybe even no need to rejet!? Or even leaning it out.. considering stock 850's are what 70hp?

Yeah... we'll see. My face would be blown off if I hook them up and they just magically run right. But I suppose crazier things have happened...

Cover face while starting. Usually solves this problem. ;)

Man... I was just looking back through this thread and realized how much shit you guys all put up with helping me with this project. Just wanted to pause for a second and say thanks.

Here's to hoping this new rack of carbs gets this SOB on the road and we all stop talking about it, and I can start riding it.

Keep being awesome.

I also found this gem where Luke made a comment about my stature and I completely missed it. lmao. No offense taken.

On top of all of this, another upside is that the bike's owner is below the average 850 rider's size and weight (no offense, Tyler).

Finally got around to trying those Triumph carbs out on the 850. Fired right up, and sounded better than it ever has before. Warmed up with the choke on, idled great with the choke off. Revved up well and sounded through the range.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take it out for a ride. Hopefully some day this week before it starts raining again. Just need to get it out of the winter hibernation resting place.

Man I sure hope so. It's interesting to see how much CV carbs changed over the years (just looking at them). Flat slides instead of round slides. Etc.

And for $125, recycling my air filters and throttle cable. Can't really complain at all (yet).

Just read through this whole thread. Good thing I wasn't real busy at work tonight! Awesome job so far.

Now, where's dem pics?

OOF! That's a lot of reading. Sorry about that :)

Bike has changed in appearance since I got it on the road this summer...unless of course you account for the new carbs. ha

Once I get her back on the road I'll make sure to get some pictures out in the wild to prove that she can go further than from my house to downtown. Bummed it's suppose to rain this weekend or I'd be riding it to Portland for the 1 Moto Show.

Got the girl out for a quick 20 mile loop during a break from the rain. No shit, it ran so unbelievably well. Couldn't even compare it to anything else. Even the last 850 I built that I thought was running well.

I owe it all to David who pushed these triumph carbs on me. So happy.
