Rich you going to the show in kzoo this weekend? Im considering driving down but I havent heard much about it.

Nope, it's crappy and they want money at the door. If I want to pay fifteen bucks for a gremlin bell I work within walking distance of the place that puts it on.

Let me know if you want a gremlin bell i'll walk right over there

Naww I keep Saint Ducati on my front fender :) He is all the coverage I need. That and afflack of course.

Well I got a gen 2 for myself. But the other one was nice and he wanted way too much.

I'll keep my eyes open for another one for you though!

Seat's done! Good enough for who it's for.

Rides nice, too.

Still having a weird fueling issue. I don't think my pilot is doing its job.

Pic taken at Checkered Past in Galesburg, MI. That's my man Randy's Sportster in the foreground. He's 65 and has more fun on that thing than anyone I've ever seen.

Pulled my carb apart and found that my pilot circuit was pretty much fucked up in every possible fashion. On the bright side it's a very simple setup so after the jbweld sets up I can get back to wasting sparkplugs.

Well, this weekend was busy, but I set aside some time Saturday for tuning - came out to a battery that was reading 14V+ but would drop to ~3V under load, which isn't even enough to move the starter solenoid.

I called the LiFePo battery manufacturer (motydesign.com) and got all geared up to demand a warranty replacement, and in a hurry!, but by the end of the conversation he'd convinced me that somehow I must have discharged the battery below the 10V acceptable limit. Further, the shakeup of A123, the company that holds the patents for the Lithium cells that these tiny batteries are made of, has brought out a lot of fakes in the market, and he's waiting for a new supplier to come on line...so even if I bitched and moaned for days, I wouldn't have a new battery in hand by the time I need this thing to get to Kentucky.

So I put a big AGM battery on the side, like I should have done in the first place.

It's sitting on a metal support I made last night; will box it in with leather and perforated metal tonight. The right side of the bike is having all the fun now, though - with the whole exhaust system, big carb and breather, and the battery. So, to make sure the left side wasn't getting jealous, I put some stickers on it:

Seat looks nice, but the missing fender? You will end up like this:

Yeah, I know it - and as you may recall, my wife and I only keep one car, so I ride when, uh, it isn't snowing. I'm going to see how bad it is and then decide how to move. I have not found a fender that I like yet, and my spacesuit keeps me pretty dry.

Rich, you can glass a hugger right on the tire, paint it black and it dissappears and you keep the mud off. Just a thought.

I think that'll be the route I end up taking. I have never done any glass work beyond repairs before so I just need to buck up and do it.

Cover everything with plastic and you should be good to go. Check out Ringo's gulf build for tips and process, he did his in CF, but glass is the same. I have done a few things and each time I get better at it. Prep all your layers first dry then lay them up with resin, makes it much easier and gives you max work time etc.
