XV920 "Short Bus"

Amigo this thing is looking way cooler than I ever expected. Nice work.

It actually looks cooler from the side with all the stuff on it:

I'm telling you man it's badass.
What's the plan for upholstery?

It was to use the remnant from what I just discovered was not actually a leather couch. Now I'm not quite sure.

Looks for Seca wheels, they bolt on and you get an 18" rear and a 17" front with certain models. Plus you can keep dual discs up front and they weigh less and you get a choice of more modern tires......
just a thought.

Need to swap pumpkins too - that is on my craigslist watchlist :)

Found my leather in the attic. I don't like Queen Anne legs on wingchairs anyway.

Off to the shoe guy to get this thing sewn up. When I'm back at a computer I'll post a link to the chopcult thread where I got my how-to for this. You want patina, bike nighters? How 'bout a seventy-year-old chair's upholstery.

I did nothing but swap the brake plate.

I'm fixing mine up for the wife, but love your build, it's the way I would do it I think!

No prob. The nicest thing was the RPM drop at speed. The biggest problem aesthetically is the skinny tires you have to run, but the added height was good for me, and it still handles pretty well for what it is

This front-end conversion search is based on bearing inner and outer dimensions ONLY! Stem length may vary from machine to machine making some combinations unworkable. As a result of front-end conversion, rake and trail may be altered, adversely affecting handling of the vehicle.

input your 920

I think you'll be initially amazed at how many might adapt . Issue is the stem length as the disclaimer states . However it appears from old notes of mine that the FZwtf 600 , 750 , from that era should be close .

I just figured if each page required the requisite jab at your current front end/brake and I was responsible for fairly half of them it was about time I started doing some of your homework . ;-)

For the record, I really like where this is going.
For the sake of the conversation, the XV535 had a shaft hub with spokes.
Not certain if it will mate with your diff, but it's something to consider. I really like these motors, but the swoopy wheels kill me.

I love being right!

Wait what am I right about?

How cool this thing might turn out. I, too, am surprised.

Thanks, Bozz - I will look further into the XV535 rear end.

I'm taking my seat in to a local cobbler to get sewn up; followed the basic process outlined at chopcult to put the seat together:

My buddy has a 535 in his garage he is supposed to be rebuilding. If I can get him to pull the back wheel, what measurements do you need to know?

Looks like it's almost a straight swap, now that I've looked a little more into it. Knifemaker (who is doing a crazy Virago build right now) found that it's almost but not quite a straight swap: http://www.customfighters.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1182995&postcount=64

Gotta love something turning out way better than you thought.
But that just means come next winter you actually have to tear it down AGAIN and make it all nice and pretty.
Too bad it isn't ass ugly and you could just leave it that way 8)

So far I am only about a hundred bucks out of pocket from the day I picked up two Viragos for $400. I can live with teardown for paint. :)
