Wow! An update. I thought you died or something...actually I kind of forgot about you. HA! :p That paint on the engine looks great. What are the switches in the fork clamps for? DETAILS, MAN, DETAILS!

I'm really thinking about a different set of carbs for mine and then try for the 900cc upgrade over the winter. Mine is finished as of 2 weeks ago. I thought for sure you were going to finish before me. Then again, you did open Pandora's Box, I mean the engine.

Keep us updated. I don't check on builds like I used to and you will be giving me inspiration to upgrade everything. Right now I'm battling oil leaks on the side cover. You are truly missing out. Maybe I should have rebuilt the darn engine.

thanks matey, unfortunately life stuff always seems to get in the way, but its getting there slowly.

as for the switches dont know yet, maybe one as a horn one as the starter?

engine has had major work , all new bearings, new crank and big end shells, hopefully will sound nice when she is running.

plans are to get her on the road by next march as we are in the middle of selling our house so that kinda takes all our time at the mo.

More updates as and when they come , dont forget about me i aint dead just yet!

Hellooooo

Great project, looks like I am going to have to strip my existing cafe racer down and improve it... I'll post it properly once I've started.

Q as you are obviously well versed in these....my weapon is an xs750. I want to make this a kick start only now...reduce battery size and remove starter issue problems in the future. Any thoughts on this?

Great ride as you know to date btw!

Any progress on the bike? The last post was a year ago. To answer a very old question, I converted my XS to kickstart only. It starts up on 1-2 kicks no problem. I completely rebuilt the engine with Wiseco pistons, so it's pretty tight and high compression. I still have no probelm kicking it over.

What did you use to cover the hole left by the starter motor? Heard of using expanding plugs but sounds somewhat temporary to me..
