Yet another XS750 Cafe Racer

I love this bike, so stylish and somewhat subtle. If I could make a small suggestion it would be to "skeletonize" a few of the bits, for example the rear-set brackets are solid and either drilling them or cutting out the center would cut some weight and add some interest? That said, it is gorgeous.

Hi m511y

Hows your build going?

Its going well. Painting my wheels this weekend. I still need to weld some tank mounting tabs on the frame, polish and clean the engine, shave and polish the top tree, and complete the wiring. It is coming along, but I still have a ton to do.

The worst part of restoring the engine finish was removing the old paint.
The previous owner had brush painted with Hammerite, it took ages to get off. once that was done and rubbed down I used VHT High Temp Primer, followed by Simoniz silver engine enamel.
All the casings were then removed, old paint taken off with wire mops, lots of work with various grades of wet and dry (120-800 grit), then polished with mops and compound and new gaskets fitted.

I can't get over the wire wheels. I would kill to find a pair of those in the states. This bike is going to be amazing! Can't wait to see the finished pics.

I was lucky to get hold of the wheels. It's the first time I have seen them come up for sale

First time I've logged onto this forum for a while for a look, its also about time I updated my XS850 thread thats on here somewhere. (http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=7477)

And yes, you're very lucky to have found those wheels. Bought mine from Japan, cost me a little bit to restore......

Took the bike out for a test ride yesterday everything seems fine.
Passed the MOT with no advisories.
