Re: Third Times a Charm CB175

Thursday Fuller gave us our marching orders. He showed Zeke how to do the backbone for the tail and then Zeke was to do all the measuring and making of the backbone from the wire buck. The backbone is a control so it has to be perfect. After several failed attempts and Zeke working through lunch because he wasn't going to give up.

I changed the carb mounts :) the side draft was driving me crazy and I was given the task to finish the subframe and tie it into the swing armhttps://vimeo.com/133927654

Bryan says that shaping aluminum is "dancing with the metal". So what kind of music does he dance to? Heavy Metal of course...Metallica can drown out a planishing hammer. Bryan checking Zekes backbonehttps://vimeo.com/133928079

Zeke and Bryan then made the patterns for the sides and Bryan taught us that the cardboard matters and it only lay one way without crinkling. He wrote instructions for Zeke to cut the panels and then we used the pattern for the final cut after shaping. We taped the curves on the wire buck and then cut the tape to lay flat.

Bryan shaped one side of the bike and Zeke shaped the other side. Here is Bryan's method for shaping Zoöid in a 30 second compilation. https://vimeo.com/133930296

While they were doing the sheet metal I worked on both sides of the subframe. Made a pattern with a welding wire after checking both sides and chain clearance. Zeke has many days of TIG welding ahead. Just tacked everything for now.

we riveted the body work to head home. We still have a lot of work to do. Our second tunnel, welding, engine, electrical, pipes, riding (it would be negligent to not put a few hundred miles on Zoöid) etc....our goal is to hand it back over to Bryan at the 2016 Barber Vintage Festival. He wants it perfect.
